About USAID Project:
EngenderHealth seeks to implement an anticipated five-year USAID
project named, Expanding and Strengthening Family Planning Service Options in
Uganda.  The goal of the project is to
increase use of equitable, quality and sustainable family planning (FP)
services through increased FP service delivery options and demand for modern
contraception including long-acting reversible contraception (LARCs) and
permanent methods (PMs). Cross cutting themes include gender programing and
youth sexual reproductive health (SRH) services.
Job Summary: The Research
Officer will support the project’s research agenda encompassing all research
activities. This will include overseeing implementation of the research agenda;
design, implementation, analysis and dissemination of operations research
within the project; and coordinating technical inputs by partner organizations.
Qualifications, Skills and
Experience: 
  • The applicants should hold Master’s degrees
    or higher in public health, demography, sociology, biostatistics or
    related field
  • At least five years’ experience in the
    design/implementation of research studies and familiarity with
    quantitative and qualitative research methods.
  • Operations research experience in family
    planning/reproductive health or other health programming strongly
    preferred.
  • Broad knowledge and understanding of local
    ethical review requirements and processes is required.
  • Computer literacy and analysis experience
    using statistical and database programs such as SPSS, Stata, EPI Info, and
    MS Access is desired.
  • Prior exposure and experience on
    USAID-funded awards is preferred. S/he must have a demonstrated ability to
    work effectively in team settings and have the ability and willingness to
    travel.
