Job Summary: The Sales and Technical Engineer will primarily be responsible for proactively seeking and securing new business in line with set monthly targets and with the view to aggressively growing ROKE Telkom’s market share. The incumbent will also support and work with Technical Department in order to build and maintain a stable and reliable quality network infrastructure for ROKE clients.

Key Duties and Responsibilities:  
  • Tasked with identifying potential contacts amongst the target group (e.g. from referrals, newspaper reports, personal contacts) and initiating meetings
  • Seeking to understand customer needs in a way that is responsive to individual customer requirements
  • At all times, the incumbent will be treating customers with respect and warmth according to best practices in customer service.
  • Consistently meet or exceed sales targets set for the role of Sales Executive as outlined by the sales manager on a monthly basis
  • Send regular updates on performance during weekly sales and marketing team meetings
  • Seek feedback and advice from the Sales and Marketing Manager to ensure targets are met
  • Share knowledge on how to secure new business and leads with the rest of the sales and marketing team as and when required to promote the professional development of the entire team
  • Support customers in making buying decisions and to explain product benefits in an accurate and appealing manner
  • Work closely with the provisioning team to gather terms of reference for prospective customer builds and liaising with relevant sales and customer contacts to carry out detailed surveys that will facilitate generation of accurate quotes and expected lead times for swift service turn up
  • Closely follow up with contractors/sub-contractors on phone, email and carry out physical on-site inspections to ensure that work orders for fiber builds are carried out as per specification and within the stipulated project completion lead time.
  • Assimilate and apply knowledge on the integration (reviewing, inspecting and testing) of third party customer equipment into ROKE Telkom's product line including such as switches, routers and servers, and training customers on system usage.


Qualifications, Skills and Experience:
  • The ideal candidate for the Roke Telkom Sales and Technical Engineer job opportunity must hold a Bachelor’s degree in Marketing or Business Administration or a University degree (BSc) Computer Science or Telecommunications Engineering from a recognized university
  • One to two years of progressively responsible experience in a sales or technical position
  • Previous experience within a telecommunications environment is an added advantage
  • Excellent negotiation skills
  • Extremely proactive – self starter.
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills;
  • Excellent problem solving and analytical skills;
  • Keen attention to detail and multitasking ability;
  • Result- and team-oriented, honest and of high integrity; and
  • Ability to work with minimum supervision.
