About UHRC:
The Uganda Human Rights Commission is an Institution established under
the Provisions of Article 51 (1) of the Constitution of the Republic of Uganda,
its legal mandate. functions and powers are also enshrined in the UHRC Act of
1997. The main function of the Commission is to protect and promote Human Rights,
Civic Obligations, Constitutionalism and respect for the rule of law. The
Commission would like to strengthen its human resources capacity by recruiting
dynamic and self motivated individuals to complement its current staff in the
implementation of its mandate as a National Human Rights institution.
Job Summary: The Assistant
Accountant will be mainly responsible for effective and efficient
implementation of activities of handling finances in the accounts office
through the accounts function.
Key Duties and Responsibilities:
  • The job holder will be preparing activity
    work plans and providing technical input in the budget preparation
    processes
  • Processing of payments for all activities
    including withdrawals, banking and issuing out payments to facilitate
    field activities.
  • Keeping accounts updated with records and
    books of accounts, including cash books and ledgers and preparation of
    bank reconciliation statements
  • Perform any other duties as assigned by
    supervisor
Qualifications, Skills and
Experience:
  • The Applicant should possess UDBS or any
    Diploma in accountancy obtained from a recognized awarding Institution at
    a Diploma in Accounts from a recognized Institution.
  • Part professional qualification in ACCA or
    CPA will be an added advantage.
  • Previous Accounting experience of at least
    two years in a related field.
  • Knowledge of Government of Uganda Accounting
    practices and procedures.
  • Working knowledge of relevant accounting
    packages.
Age: 20 years and above
