Job Title:  Senior Veterinary Officer

About US:

The Prisons Act, 2006 provides for the mandate and functions of a Uganda Prisons Service composed of Central and former Local Government Prisons and spells out the duties of the UPS as to protect, promote and fulfill the rights of those incarcerated.

Key Duties and Responsibilities: The incumbent will be responsible to the Principal Veterinary Officer for performing the following duties:-

• Carrying out surgical intervention on livestock;
• Training staff and farmers on new technologies;
• Monitoring activities of private practitioners in order to conform to the Government standards;
• Reporting regularly on activities of the Sector;
• Supervising regulation activities on livestock trade and movement;
• Any other duties that may be assigned from time to time.

Qualifications, Skills and Experience:

• Applicants should be Ugandans holding an Honours Bachelor’s Degree in Veterinary Medicine from a recognized University/Institution. He/She should be licensed and registered by with the Uganda Veterinary Board
• Applicants should have a minimum of three (3) years relevant working experience as Veterinary Officer in Government.
