PACHEDO FOUNDATION is a development organization duly registered as an NGO with Uganda NGO bureau and has been working in Uganda since 2007. PACHEDO FOUNDATION is operational in the Districts of Gulu, Lamwo, Amuru, Adjumani, Yumbe, Terego and Kole Districts implementing programs in four main sectors of Health/Nutrition, Protection; Food Security and Livelihoods; and climate change/Disaster Risk Reduction. The overall goal of the organisation is responding to humanitarian emergencies and development needs

 

Job Summary:  The Economic Empowerment Officer will be expected to support the enhancement of safe, sustainable and dignified livelihoods and income for vulnerable women and girls affected by GBV, displacement, through economic empowerment. This staff will be responsible for implementation of activities of the project. He/she will work very closely with the community structures including Women Rights Advocacy groups, SASA Activists, Role model men, RWCs, CBTs, Parish chiefs, LC1 and the project beneficiaries. He/she will always update the management through the Project Coordinator about the progress of the project and will provide project activity reports as per the reporting schedules and work plans.

 

Key Duties and Responsibilities:

Project planning

  • Identify and adopt appropriate strategies for project implementation
  • Prepare periodic project specific activity implementation work plans and budgets to guide implementation
  • Identify the different project stakeholders to mainstream Gender in all livelihood activities.
  • Support the project coordinator in organizing review meetings with the project beneficiaries and other structures.

Project implementation

  • Mobilize project Beneficiaries for implementation of activities.
  • Conduct refresher training for right holder’s groups on VSLA methodology, business and entrepreneurship skills, and encouraging women to save, borrow to self finance their innovative micro enterprises and value addition.
  • Support self help groups to verify and select the micro and value addition enterprises.
  • Conduct Market and financial institutions linkages.
  • Facilitate groups’ registration at the sub-county and district.
    • Support documentation of lessons and success stories.
    • Support VSLA activities for the beneficiary groups.
    • Prepare activity reports in timely manner and submit to the immediate supervisor.

Monitoring and Evaluation

  • Support MEAL Officer to map the self help groups, conduct household assessment (administer VAT& NAT) to all the 20 selected groups.
    • Conduct routine monitoring visits with the project coordinator and M&E officer to check progress of the project.
    • Support the project coordinator in organizing project review meetings.
    • Develop and disseminate lessons, good practices and success stories for the project
    • Participate in project evaluation whenever necessary.

Reporting and communication

  • Ensure that the project coordinator is regularly updated about the progress of all activities through regular project briefing and meetings.
  • Prepare and provide accurate and timely project activity reports
  • Take on any other work-related duties as assigned/given by the supervisor or any other member of the senior management.





Qualifications, Skills and Experience:  

  • The applicant must hold a Bachelor’s degree in relevant fields of Entrepreneurship, Agri Business, Development studies.
  • Post graduate qualification in Agri-business will be an added advantage.
  • Minimum of three (3) years of relevant work experience.
  • Knowledge of the area of operation is an asset.
  • Competence in work related experience in SGBV is a must
  • The person should be passionate about women and girls’ issues and working with the same
  • Competence in computer applications (MS Office and email)
  • Highly motivated with desire to work with disadvantaged women and girls
  • Ability to manage stress and conduct multiple activities and engagements
  • Ability to ride a motorcycle with a valid riding permit
