FCA Uganda is active in 13 districts and 7 refugee settlements. FCA is a leading provider of access to education for refugees in Uganda at primary, secondary and tertiary levels. FCA seeks to recruit suitable persons to fill the following gaps in Bidi Bidi Refugee Settlement, Yumbe District.

 

Job Summary:  The ECD Care Giver will directly facilitate general learning processes both in & out of classrooms during learning hours in the primary school that you will be posted to, planning together with your colleagues deliver the lessons, carry out continuous assessment of learners and plan for remedial lessons when its required, report to the Head Teacher of the school as your immediate supervisor and participate in any education and community engagement aimed at promoting access to schools organized by the school, FCA and development partners.

 

Key Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Register children with all the relevant details including any form of vulnerability as may be demanded for ECD services at the Centre.
  • Prepare and Conduct age appropriate, culturally meaningful/ accepted ECD relevant learning activities with children using the common language easily understood by learners.
  • Select or make instructional resources and materials for ECD bearing in mind the cultural connotation, gender, children with disability and language.
  • Maintain and keep daily records of pupils’ attendance, records of children works at the ECD Centre. Ensure good hygiene, monitor health, and ensure immediate isolation of those who need extra care.
  • Control learner’s behavior and learning conditions in and out of ECD Center and making proper use of all the learning materials or tool kits that may be provided to promote children’s learning.
  • Organize structured play activities at the ECD Center to promote children’s growth and development.
  • Take good care of all ECD materials/items/equipment and maintain the ECD Center in good and attractive condition.
  • Prepares schemes of work and lesson plan in accordance with the learning framework.
  • Regularly teach the planned lessons in the classes assigned to you by the Lead caregiver.
  • Ensure good hygiene, safety, and security of children under your care.
  • Organize and conduct sports days to promote fine motor, psychomotor, affective and cognitive development.
  • Do any other duty assigned to you by the Lead caregiver, your immediate supervisor.





Qualifications, Skills and Experience:

  • The ideal candidate must hold a certificate in nursery teaching or training in early childhood development.
  • He/she should have good writing and speaking skills of English language.
  • Credit in English and Mathematics will be an added advantage.
  • He/she must be a resident of Bidi Bidi Refugee settlement.
  • He/she should have a professional experience of teaching in ECD centres in a refugee context for at least 1 year.

 

Candidates should send a letter of recommendation detailing good conduct (no criminal activity including protection violations) from former employer or LC authority is a must.
