Job Summary:  Under the direction of the Monitoring and Evaluation (M&E) Officer, the M&E Assistant is responsible for supporting the development and evaluation of specific program M&E needs to ensure the quality, and effectiveness of program implementation. The M&E Assistant will help the Community Development staff in Uganda in developing performance monitoring plans and results frameworks during program design and implementation, creating an M&E system, processes, and tools, and contributing to measuring, analyzing, and reporting results. This position requires that the person relocate/reside in Jinja. The position requires travel to remote locations within the respective regions to support the implementation of the WASH aspects at all levels.

Key Duties and Responsibilities:

General Responsibilities:

  • Maintain a strong Christian witness and model servant leadership to colleagues, partners, the communities we serve, and the public.
  • Engage and participate in prayer before and after team meetings.
  • Lead and participate in biblically based staff devotions.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Work closely with the M&E Officer to ensure the presence of a robust monitoring plan, and develop monitoring and evaluation guidelines, frameworks, and indicators for the project implementation.
  • Lead and assist M&E Officer in conducting regular data review meetings at the field office noting the actionable points and lessons learned.
  • Update and provide data and information to the program managers and staff on request.
  • Participate actively in enforcing data and report quality assurance, quality control, and quality improvement measures for all field program interventions.
  • Conduct routine data quality audits to identify and resolve systemic problems affecting data quality, document findings from data quality audits, and store in project files to ensure collective and sustainable access.
  • Support the program staff in their routine activities by participating in facilitating and documentation.
  • Design and review data collection tools and databases required by the program staff for aggregation and analysis of information and take the lead in conducting baseline and end-line surveys.
  • Conduct routine field monitoring visits document learnings and share lessons.
  • Work with program staff to ensure that data is collected and entered in databases and/or tracking sheets, and/or the data platform regularly.
  • Compile and consolidate monthly, quarterly, mid-year, and annual reports promptly.





Qualifications, Skills and Experience:

  • The applicant must hold a bachelor’s degree in Monitoring and Evaluation, Statistics, Social Science, or any relevant discipline.
  • Postgraduate training in M&E or Statistics is an added advantage.
  • Two years of working experience in a similar position with a local or international NGO
  • Computer Literacy with knowledge and experience in data management and analysis using MS Excel, SPSS, Water surveyor, Kobo collect, Survey CTO and STATA is required.·
  • Self-motivated, and able to work under pressure.
  • Flexible and willing to travel to the field as required.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills in English.
  • Team-oriented, possesses a positive attitude, and works well with others.
  • Good presentation skills using Microsoft PowerPoint.
  • Relationship and Alignment: Personal and growing relationship with Jesus Christ.
