The Equal Opportunities Commission (EOC), established by the Equal Opportunities
Act of 2007 is mandated to provide a framework for redressing imbalances, which
exist against the marginalized groups while promoting equal opportunities for
all.

 

Job Summary: To be specified in the instrument of appointment.

 

Key Duties and Responsibilities:

  • The Secretary is the Chief Executive of the Commission and responsible for supervising, coordinating, monitoring and controlling all the activities of the Commission;
  • Managing and accounting for resources,
  • Formulating the strategic plans and coordinating the multiple functional areas;
  • Managing and accounting for resources,

  • Tendering advice to the Chairperson and Members in respect of the business of the Commission;
  • Initiating implementation of Policies of Government;
  • Ensuring proper Expenditure of Public funds in the Commission;
  • Creating and promoting a good image of the Commission,
  • Providing accountability for all resources allocated for proper functioning of a Commission; Mobilizing resources for the Commission;
  • Implementing Commission decisions; and
  • Promoting linkages between the Commission, the public and other stakeholders.
  • Supervising all Heads of Department
  • Timely record of the minutes of the Commission meetings,
  • Taking lead in the development of policies, guidelines, regulations and standards pertaining to EOC;
  • To perform any other functions assigned to him or her by the Commission

 




Qualifications, Skills and Experience:

  • The ideal applicant must hold Either 1 An Honors Bachelor’s Degree in Arts, Social Sciences, DevelopmentStudies, Social Work and Social Administration, Business Administration (Management option), Commerce (Management option), Arts or related degree in Management studies from a recognized awarding Institution.
  • A Master’s Degree in Business Administration, Public Sector Management, Public Administration, Management Studies, Development studies and Public Policy.
  • Work Experience At least fifteen (15) years managerial experience, five (5) of which must have been obtained at least at Head of Department level in the Public Sector or equivalent level of experience from a reputable organization.
