About US:

The Uganda Development Corporation (UDC) was set up  by the Uganda Development Corporation Act 2016 as the  investment arm of Government with the primary objective of  facilitating industrial and economic development of the country. This objective is met through; establishment of subsidiary and associated companies, entering into public private partnerships with any commercial, industrial or agricultural undertaking or enterprises, assisting in financing and management of undertakings promoting industrial or economic development;  and promoting  and  facilitating  research  into  industrial  development.

 

Job Summary:  The Senior Financial Analyst will be responsible for the financial planning, financial analysis, evaluation, structuring, project appraisal and performance of UDC projects/ entities.

 

Key Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Perform financial forecasting, reporting, and operational metrics tracking of investments.
  • Analyze financial data and create financial models to aid decision making.
  • Regularly prepare and report on financial performance of investments while providing analysis of trends and forecasts with recommended actions for investment optimization.
  • Analyze past results, perform variance analysis, identify trends, and make recommendations to management.
  • Work closely with the accounting team to ensure accurate financial reporting.
  • Evaluate financial performance by comparing and analyzing actual results against budget, plans and forecasts and making appropriate interpretations.
  • Provide cost analysis for projects and the corporation.
  • Creation of standard and ad-hoc reports, tools, and dashboards while providing appropriate improvements.
  • Increase productivity by developing automated reporting/ forecasting tools.
  • Perform market research, data mining, business intelligence, and their evaluation.
  • Maintain a strong financial analysis foundation while creating forecasts and models.
  • Keeping track of a corporation’s investments work plans and Budgets, analyzing the corporation’s performance alongside changes and market trends.
  • Creating intra networks with other offices in execution of your work.
  • Any other duties that may be assigned by the Supervisor.





Qualifications, Skills and Experience:

  • The applicant must hold a Bachelor’s degree in Commerce, Business Administration, Finance, Accounting, Economics or Statistics, are preferred major fields.
  • Professional qualifications – ACCA.
  • Five or more years of experience in investment/project analysis and appraisal part of which should have worked in a public Investment project.
  • Previous experience in use of data analysis tools and query/data management will be an added advantage.
  • Strong quantitative and analytical competency.
  • Self-starter with excellent interpersonal communication and problem-solving skills.
  • Advanced knowledge of Excel.
  • Ability to streamline functions and passion to learn and grow.
  • Strong interpersonal  skills,  including written  and  oral communication skills.
  • Comfort dealing with ambiguity and the ability to work
  • Comfortable interacting with executive-level management.
  • Strong financial modeling experience.
  • Strong analytical and data management skills.
  • Good business acumen.
