Mbarara Regional Referral Hospital invites applications from suitably qualified persons to fill the following vacancies on contract that exist under the USAID Government to Government Assistance to Mbarara Regional Referral Hospital Activity.

 

Job Summary:  The Assistant Program Coordinator will be responsible for supporting the Project Coordinator and Head ISS Clinic with management initiatives and G2G project teams made up of internal and external resources to deliver program solutions and services to the department. The incumbent assists the Programs Coordinator with tracking the project activities and timelines to ensure timely implementation of planned activities and other activities

 

Key Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Participates in improving the quality of and access to MNCH, Family Planning, HIV/AIDS, TB, Malaria, and Nutrition services by adopting and institutionalizing quality improvement and Site Improvement Systems and Monitoring (SIMS) approaches.
  • Participates in capacity building site teams through organizing and conducting mentoring and coaching: CMEs and occasionally formal trainings.
  • Strengthens the quality of health services and data through supportive supervision and monitoring visit to the different units within the hospital.
  • Participate in process of data auditing and verification to assure internal consistency and validity of project activity monitoring data through monthly and quarterly data verification and auditing visits.
  • Facilitate the interpretation and use of M&E data, through the quarterly review meetings: guide the identification
  • Assists in identifying, documenting, disseminating and scaling up best practices in Malaria, MNCH, Family Planning, Nutrition, HIV prevention, PMTCT and C&T.
  • Give technical assistance and mentorship to staff and also to lower health facilities in TB, HIV/AIDS care and treatment and other QI collaborative including MCH and Nutrition.
  • Participates in organizing regional meetings for QI involving districts and other IPs in the region.
  • Contributes to the development and maintenance of detailed project plan to include milestones, tasks, and target/actual dates of completion.
  • In consultation with the Programs Coordinator, revises and documents revised project workplans as appropriate to meet changing needs and requirements.
  • Prepares and submits project status reports to management in a timely manner.
  • Schedules and conducts project management meetings to include logistics, agendas, and meeting minutes.
  • Conducts regularly scheduled project status update meetings.
  • Develops process workflows as it relates to assigned projects and/or to support internal process improvement initiatives, with appropriate guidance.





Qualifications, Skills and Experience:

  • The qualified candidate will have a Bachelor’s Degree in Medicine, Nursing or Public Health
  • A master’s Degree in Public Health, Health Services Research, or epidemiology will be an added advantage.
  • Five years of proven professional experience working in HIV/AIDS prevention, care & treatment, MNCH, Family Planning, Nutrition and malaria programs.
  • Hands-on knowledge and skills in designing, planning, implementing and monitoring Malaria, MNCH, PMTCT, clinical care and Pediatric care programs is an added advantage.
  • Good understanding of the quality improvement framework of MOH and quality improvement principles
  • Good knowledge of the decentralized health system and community structures.
  • Sound understanding of current issues and developments in the field of Malaria, MNCH. TB and HIV/AIDS
  • Strong skills in teamwork and networking.
  • Excellent verbal communication and writing skills.
  • Age: Below 50 years
