Job Summary: The
Enrolled Midwife is part of the health center team and will be involved in the
health center and outreach activities.
Key Duties and Responsibilities: 
  • Provide comprehensive care to mothers during pregnancy with emphasis
    on identifying high risk cases and refer them to the clinician.
  • Ensure that aseptic techniques are adhered to in carrying out
    emergency deliveries.
  • Provide comprehensive care to mothers during emergency labor with
    emphasis on keeping proper records, use of drugs and prevention of complication
    to mothers and babies..
  • Register births of the newborns.
  • Maintain close contact with patients.
  • Ensure confidentiality of patients.
  • Receive patients, register admissions and discharges.
  • Conduct Health Education to mothers and their husbands.
  • Participate in Primary Health Care activities.
  • Adhere to the relevant Codes of Conduct and Ethics.
  • Perform any other duties as maybe assigned from time to time.

Qualifications, Skills and Experience: 
  • The ideal candidate for the AMREF Enrolled Midwife job placement
    should hold a certificate in midwifery.
  • Valid Annual practicing license.
  • Individuals with relevant work experience and an ability to relate
    effectively and understands the socio economic and Cultural situation of
    the project area.
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, decision making
    and strategic planning skills.
  • Ability and willingness to work under pressure.
