(BUL) is an FMCG company that has established a modern edible oil processing
complex in Masese, Jinja. BUL has also developed 10,000 hectares of oil palm
plantations on Bugala Island, Kalangala District as a backward integration
component. All these are geared at serving the African markets with our brands
of fortified edible oils, fats and laundry soap.
Job Summary:  The Logistics Officer will primarily manage
and coordinate the transportation of goods, raw materials; inclusive of customs
clearances to ensure smooth sustainability of the organization.
Key Duties and Responsibilities: 
  • Tasked with preparing monthly logistics plan and reviewing it
    regularly.
  • Planning raw material delivery schedules against available stocks,
    consumptions and lead times.
  • Ensure timely deliveries at the lowest possible cost as well as
    provision of reliable information to management.
  • Work closely with the purchase department to establish imports
    orders placed and accordingly plan for appropriate mode of delivery.
  • Manage and supervise the movement and Flow of shipments from
    respective origins to arrival at load port and follow up for timely port
    clearance to avoid accrual of demurrage charges.
  • Plan and ensure smooth local customs clearance in accordance with
    the statutory declaration processes.
  • Regularly monitor the company gross payment account with the Revenue
    authority to verify material received against deductions made for proper
    accountability and reconciliation.
  • Coordinate and harmonize all logistics activities to ensure timely
    deliveries and smooth flow of raw materials to facilitate production.
  • Participate in the evaluation of suppliers, transporters and other
    service providers attached to materials management department.
  • Ensuring good logistics planning, record keeping as well as
    maintaining good work ethics as required by the company.
  • Keenly review service provider’s invoices in line with the agreed
    contract terms and submit them to accounts for settlement of bills on the
    due dates

Qualifications, Skills and Experience: 
  • The applicant should preferably hold a good Bachelor’s degree in
    procurement and logistics, fleet management or any business related course
    from a recognized University.
  • At least three years’ experience in similar role from a large
    organization
  • Excellent coordination and interpersonal skills.
  • A person of high integrity, highly motivated, innovative and a
    committed team player.
  • Ability to withstand stressful work situations and have willingness
    to work long hours outside the normal hours
