Job Summary: The
Agribusiness Coordinator will be responsible for providing technical expertise
in agribusiness and provide programmatic support to the Agri Skills 4 You
(AS4Y) program. The job objective is to ensure the development and integration
of entrepreneurial approach into AS4Y program implementation to promote farming
as a business.
Key Duties and
Responsibilities: 
  • Train, coach and provide technical
    backstopping to AS4Y implementing partners on their market orientation,
    market research and business planning.
  • Offer technical and methodological support
    to the AS4Y team on strengthening value chains and the role of quality
    seed in value chain development of selected crops.
  • Support in identifying appropriate
    market-based approaches and supply-side activities to support AS4Yskills
    training services.
  • Steer efforts in local enterprise
    development, quality improvement, and innovative mechanisms related to
    local markets, with the objective of strengthening capacity for steering
    and implementation of agribusiness-based solutions to promote farming as
    business.
  • Closely collaborate with partners, staff,
    and district stakeholders in supporting farmer groups towards becoming
    commercially sustainable entrepreneurs.
  • Actively participate in business
    incubation and business development services along with ICCO regional and
    international specialists as appropriate.
  • Represent ICCO in external meetings and
    conferences as delegated by supervisor or Regional Manager.
Qualifications, Skills and
Experience: 
  • The candidate should process s good
    bachelor’s degree in a relevant subject matter with an orientation towards
    participatory agricultural development (e.g. Agribusiness or Agricultural
    Economics, Agriculture)
  • A minimum of four years working experience
    in relevant agricultural market systems and/or in relevant support
    markets.
  • Strong entrepreneurial abilities.
  • Past exposure and experience in working
    and coordinating with international and national partners, government and
    donor agencies.
  • Demonstrated knowledge of, and experience
    in, farmer group business development and strengthening private sector
    participation in markets is essential.
  • Excellent project planning,
    organizational, interpersonal and communication skills.
  • Prior experience as a trainer, coach is
    essential
  • Excellent English language skills and Luo
    language skills.
  • Self-motivated, pro-active and result
    driven
  • Being an open and reliable person with
    high integrity
  • Ability to work independently but at the same
    time being a team player
  • Ability to connect with people of
    different backgrounds Gender sensitive
  • Affinity with the protestant character of
    ICCO and Kerk in Actie and ICCO’s values and operating principles.
