our Latin American and Caribbean work and Bratislava, Slovakia for our Europe,
the Middle East and Africa work.
Job Summary: The Project
Officer will be overseeing Habitat for Humanity Uganda’s programmes for HIV and
other vulnerable children in the respective Communities. The position calls for
a high level of; collaboration, networking at local and District level. The
Community OVC support worker is a member of the HFHU OVC program Team and
reports to the OVC Program Manager.
Key Duties and Responsibilities: 
  • Managing
    all aspects of program implementation and ensuring consistency of approach
    in the target communities.
  • Provide
    psychosocial counselling to HIV/AIDS orphans and their families.
  • Educate
    HFHU targeted communities about HIV/AIDS care and prevention.
  • In
    charge of ensuring the OVC programme is carried out within the approved
    budget, on schedule and according to the approved plan.
  • Ensuring
    a high standard of financial accountability for the program
  • Responsible
    for the formation of  OVC support
    groups and skills building
  • Ensure
    ongoing monitoring and evaluation of OVC programme activities and
    reporting.
  • Identify
    and document OVC families that are in need of shelter and other house
    related services.
  • Provision
    of leadership and support to sub-county and lower level community members
    engaged in the program activities.
  • Ensure
    participation in advocacy initiatives for OVC.
Qualifications, Skills and Experience: 
  • The
    applicants for the Project Officer vacancy should preferably hold a Diploma
    in social work or its equivalent (additional qualifications are an added
    advantage).
  • Proven
    field based experience in coordinating HIV/AIDS, OVC or related programs.
  • A
    minimum of three years of NGO project/program related implementation and
    management preferably within the HIV/AIDS sector.
  • Detailed
    knowledge and understanding of HIV/AIDS/OVC programming/debates and
    knowledge of similar programs in the country.
  • Ability
    to work with minimal supervision.
  • Significant
    experience in networking, advocacy and lobbying with the local level
    government and other organizations.
  • Excellent
    written and verbal communication skills in English/local language.
