 Job Summary: The Freedom House Administrative Assistant will
oversee the office affairs for a five-year project to support civil society,
the judiciary, and the media in Uganda. The Administrative Assistant will play
a supporting role in office finance and administrative functions, including
logistics.
Key Duties and
Responsibilities: 
  • Oversee the day-to-day office operations,
    including supplies, travel logistics, and scheduling.
  • Support the COP and Finance Officer with
    the office support systems including negotiations with vendors and service
    providers in the most cost effective manner.
  • Support the technical staff with the
    logistics associated with program activities, both within and outside of
    Kampala.
  • Assist with financial reporting as needed,
    including organizing office finances in coordination with the Finance
    Officer.
  • Support other staff members as needed.
  • Perform any other duties as assigned by
    the Chief of Party.
Qualifications, Skills and
Experience: 
  • The applicant should hold a Bachelor’s
    degree.
  • At least one to two years’ experience
    working in an office setting.
  • Possess the ability to communicate
    effectively in English, both verbally and in writing.
  • Computer literacy skills i.e. Microsoft
    Office Suite, specifically Excel and Word.
  • Prior experience working with an NGO
    preferred.
  • Possess the ability to organize receipts,
    documents, and information from multiple sources.
  • Good working knowledge of general
    financial management.
  • Exhaustive knowledge of Ugandan transport,
    accommodation, and banking practices.
  • Possess the ability to analyze financial
    information efficiently and accurately.
  • Ability to effectively write reports,
    maintain documentation, and complete required forms.
  • Ability to maintain the highest degree of
    confidentiality regarding all aspects of work at all times.
