Investment Authority (UIA), set up under the investment Code 1991 is a
statutory agency mandated to initiate and support measures that enhance
investment in Uganda and to advise Government on appropriate policies conducive
for investment promotion and growth.
Job Summary:
The Inspector of Works will provide construction management services, oversee
provision &maintenance of functional infrastructure and land development in
Industrial Parks.
Key Duties and Responsibilities:
  • The job holder will
    begin and facilitate the administration of the procurement process for
    works services and goods required in the Industrial Parks;
  • Develop basic
    engineering designs terms of reference for procurement of civil and other
    infrastructure works for Uganda Investment Authority;
  • Oversee the construction
    of designated approved buildings and infrastructure services in the
    Industrial Parks
  • Monitor and appraise
    management on the status of UIA physical infrastructure;
  • Inspect utilities
    and infrastructure to ensure that necessary repairs are carried out.
  • Manage and inspect
    the construction of water supply and sewerage facilities in designated
    Industrial parks.
  • Manage and oversee
    the extension of power in the industrial parks.
Key Performance Areas:
  • Serviced infrastructure in industrial parks
    constructed to specifications schedule and within budget;
  • Functional building and services constructed
    according to approved building plans; Functional utilities in the
    Industrial Parks
Qualifications, Skills and Experience:
  • The Works Inspector should possess a Bachelor’s
    Degree Civil Engineering or equivalent from a recognized university
  • Additional postgraduate Degree in Civil
    Engineering or related (such as Project Planning Management, Land
    Economics, Urban Planning, Environmental Engineering or an MBA (Management)
    etc..) from a recognized institution;
  • Any formal training in Contracts Management
    from a reputable institution;
  • The applicant who has attained professional
    qualifications /training in Urban Planning, Construction/Project
    Management, Architecture, Engineering will be at an added advantage;
  • At least five years’ experience in Construction
    Management in a reputable institution;
  • Good working knowledge of Government of Uganda
    Procurement procedures;
  • The applicant must be a registered Engineer
    with the Uganda Engineers Registration Board.
