About ZOA:
ZOA is an International Non-Governmental Organisation working in Uganda since 1998. It’s mission is to assist in rebuilding the livelihoods of peoples who are affected by human conflict or natural disaster. We operate in 17 countries in Africa and Asia. Our community based programme in Uganda concentrates on Food Security, Livelihoods/ Economic Development, Vocational Training, Education and WASH in close cooperation with local organizations and local government. This year ZOA will embark on a new multi-year project “Agri Skills 4 You” (hereafter AS4Y) funded by the Dutch Government and coordinated by ICCO/KIA to develop skills among farmers and youth for market–oriented agriculture in West Nile region. The objective of the project is increased income and improved food security for rural households in West Nile. Currently the project falls under the ZOA Nwoya programme. The project will be implemented in partnership with the Ugandan NGO CEFORD.
Key Duties and Responsibilities:
  • Plans and implements activities and/or facilitates implementation of AS4Y project (agro-business, vocational training and youth development).
  • Organization and capacity building of CEFORD and Vocational Training Institutes
  • Oversees, stimulates and motivates coordinators
  • Responsible for monitoring and reporting of projects in line with donor requirements
  • Manages finances and expenditures according to the budget
  • Contributes to preparation and planning of projects and provide input for new proposals
  • Stimulates good team spirit and Christian Values among programme staff and partners.
  • Build and maintains good relationships with local authorities, other organizations and actors linking to the relevant sector.
  • The Manger will be a member of the Technical Taskforce and regional Committee 
Qualifications, Skills and Experience:
  • The Manager should hold a Degree in Agriculture, Adult Education, Development studies, or other relevant field
  • A minimum of four years project management experience
  • Good management, planning, communication, writing and facilitation skills
  • Excellent command of English
  • Extensive experience in working in the agro-business sector and BTVET
  • Innovative, creative and enthusiastic person (able to develop the best approach)
  • Computer literacy skills
  • Self motivator, having the ability to work with limited supervision
  • Experience in working with partners and project cycle management
  • Mature personality, who enjoys working with little supervision in a dynamic environment. (S)he should have the ability to endure some hardship.
