About WRAug:
White Ribbon Alliance Uganda is a grassroots organization working with others to reduce infant and mortality in Uganda. Our objective is to contribute in achieving MDGs 4 and 5. Our programs support various key stakeholders in achieving these goals.
Job Summary: The National Coordinator will be charged with building a strong coalition to take on WRAug’s mission by: creating a compelling vision for the future; translating it into clear achievable goals and strategies; and drawing members into them while contextualizing them for various contexts in the country.
 
Key Duties & Responsibilities:
  • Lead on strategy  development  focused  on policy  change  and /or  implementation ,government  budget  allocation  and expenditure , or  delivery of  commitments  and  policies .
  • Serve as WRA Uganda national spokesman and representative.
  • Provide oversight for strategic project and campaign  implementation, including  goal-setting  and  work planning .
  • Provide leadership on strategic engagement of  WRAUG members and stakeholders  at national and sub-national  level.
  • Provide financial leverage or in-kind support to members, partners and donors to carry along the plans and activities of projects.
  • Ensure smooth running of National Secretariat particularly finance and administration and support Board of Directors in all areas of NA compliance.
  • Ensure that all WRAug grant management strictly complies with donor standards.
  • Provide oversight for the monitoring, documentation and reporting based on project results and impact for purposes of better accountability and National Alliance advocacy.
Qualifications, Skills & Experience:
·    Hold  a minimum  of  Masters  Degree  in public  /community health or social  worker  medical  doctor, nursing /midwifery, SWASA  , Social Sciences , Development   studies  or post-graduate degree in any  related field  is preferred.
·    Strong managerial and organizational skills; including the supervision of project and administrative staff.
·    Demonstrated track record of planning, managing and implemented grant-funded projects and teams.
·    Prior experience in developing and implementing, monitoring & evaluation plans, communications & work plans.
·    Thorough understanding of maternal mortality and morbidity in Uganda and how to address the causes.
·    Understanding of Uganda’s health sector and policy framework particularly the politics and policies impacting on change in practices related to maternal health.
·    In-depth understanding of other similar organisations’ past and current work in the same arena.
·    Results-oriented, success –driven  and the ability to  adapt to changes  in context  or other  problems that may arise.
·    Very strong sense of ethics, honesty and integrity whilst demonstrating in engaging in transparent, inclusive and fair business processes to build team cooperation.
·    Age :  Not less than  55 years
