Range Manager / Plantation Manager Job Opportunity at National Forestry Authority

Reports to:  Director Natural Forests / Plantations
Duty station: Transferable  
Salary Scale:   NFA4
Terms of Employment: 3 years contract (Renewable)

Job Summary: The Range/ Plantation Manager is responsible for providing technical support to the Directorate on the establishment and management of Range/ Plantations.
Responsibilities and Tasks:
·         Take the lead in the preparing of annual operational plans, plantation forest management plans and budgets within the stipulated deadline and guide and coordinate the implementation of planned activities.
·         Inspect field activities to make sure that technical and ethical standards are implemented and work is done according to the set specifications
·         Ensure that NFA activities of the designated plantation are linked to the forestry plans of relevant District Local Government(s).
·         Participate in the relevant District Council meetings, including those organized by other Stakeholders.
·         Undertake field supervision of seed collection, establishment and protection of seed sources
·         Conduct a preliminary estimation of growing stock and allowable cut by plantation
·         Ensure that harvesting plans are followed
·         Ensure effective Budget Management and monitoring on both monthly and quarterly basis to avoid budget overruns.
·         Oversee and monitor all licenses performance and general revenue collection to ensure all revenue targets are met.
·         Preparation and submission of monthly and quarterly activity reports including reports of all delegated procurements / disposals carried out.
Minimum Qualifications, Experience and skills.
·         Honours degree in Science, Forestry or Environmental management.
Five (5) years in forestry work.
·         The position demands a person with a strong business development focus, good networking abilities and client orientation, as well as strong service marketing.
