Job Summary:  The Counselors will be responsible for providing comprehensive HIV Counselling and psycho-social support to Clients, their families, and Community Members as appropriate to enable them to cope with HIV. The counselors will work as part of a team at the facility of deployment under the supervision of the Health Facility In-charge, and the RHITES EC HIV Psychosocial and Counseling Advisor.

Key Duties and Responsibilities: 
  • Provide Quality and Comprehensive Counselling Services to Clients, their partners and other family members (Pre-test, Post test, Adherence support, Intensive Adherence Counselling).
  • Conduct assessment/screening of Patients for HTS and provide necessary psychosocial care.
  • Participate in the process of empowering patients with skills for positive living, and self-reliance
  • Refer & Link Clients to appropriate medical and Psychosocial support.
  • Conduct CMEs at the facility to strengthen knowledge and skills of existing health workers in Counseling and psycho-social support
  • Provide technical support to Facility and Community Volunteers
  • Oversee and support the facility to improve implementation of Index testing and APN

Qualifications, Skills and Experience: 
  • The applicant must hold a Bachelor’s Degree or a Diploma in any of the following fields: Social Sciences, Education, SWSA, Development Studies, Community & Adult Education, Community Psychology, Guidance & Counselling, BSc Nursing or any related field)
  • A minimum of two (2) years of work experience in direct provision of HIV Counseling in a health facility.
  • Good knowledge on Rights of PLHIV and current MOH consolidated Guidelines for HIV Prevention, Care & Treatment.
  • Additional necessary requirement: Certificate in HIV Counselling; Child & Adolescent Counselling certificate or Training of trainers is an added advantage.
  • Willingness to work in rural setting.
  • Excellent Counselling, Interpersonal, Communication and Computer Skills.
  • Ability to communicate in the language dialects used in East Central region (Lusoga, Lugweri, Swahili, Samia, Luganda).

Job Summary:  The Project Officers - Sanitation Marketing is primarily responsible for innovative implementation of the FINISH (Financial Inclusion for Improved Sanitation) Program in Rwenzori Region. FINISH program will work with partners to contribute to realization of the Sustainable Development Goals (SDG) 3 (Good Health and Well Being) SDG 6 (Clean water and sanitation) and SDG 17 (Partnerships for the Goals). This program aims to achieve Universal Access to safe and well managed Sanitation facilities and Healthier and economically empowered communities.

Key Duties and Responsibilities: 
  • In collaboration with other members of the WASH team, plan and undertake assessments in order to identify key sanitation interventions and WASH-related health risks (targets) and priorities.
  • Prepare and periodically update detailed implementation plans (DIP), weekly and monthly work plans, that supports monitoring and timely implementation of the target interventions;
  • Undertake regular field visits and ensure quality and timely completion of the target activities within the defined time, budget and donor requirements;
  • In collaboration with the M&E team, identify beneficiary target and plan and monitor activities, outputs and outcomes
  • Ensure that activities reflect the needs of specific groups and individuals e.g. children, elderly people and people with disabilities.
  • Use participatory approaches as far as possible throughout the project cycle, in planning, implementing, training, and other materials.
  • Implement the sanitation interventions with guidance from the project manager and coordinate with Partner Organizations specifically in creating demand for use of safely managed sanitation facilities.
  • Identify and establish community structures and facilitate the processes through which the WASH activities can be implemented and sustainably managed.
  • Mobilize communities as appropriate for participation in planning, construction, operation, and maintenance of WASH facilities and services.
  • Plan, implement, and monitor sanitation interventions, and ensure they are appropriate to specific sectors of the community, e.g. children, youths, women, and men.
  • Prepare monthly, quarter and annual plans and contribute to the narrative reports.
  • Ensure that all project activities are implemented in accordance with their budget lines and budget limits.
  • Plan and coordinate trainings together with other WASH team members.
  • Undertake other assignment as requested by the line manager.

Qualifications, Skills and Experience: 
  • The applicant should preferably hold a Bachelor’s Degree in Public Health, Community Health, Community Development, Environmental Health Sciences and; Social work and Social Sciences.
  • Diploma in Environment Health Sciences or Project Planning and Management is an added advantage.
  • Three years of relevant hands on work experience implementing Sanitation Marketing projects.
  • An ability to relate effectively and understands the socio economic and cultural situation of the project area.
  • Must have excellent interpersonal and communication skills, decision making and strategic planning skills.

Key Duties and Responsibilities: 
  • Support the Global WASH Technical Advisor and WASH Project Manager in the Sanitation & Fecal Sludge Management Assessment.
  • Provide support to the WASH Project Manager in planning, implementation, monitoring & reporting of Fecal Sludge Management activities.

Qualifications, Skills and Experience:
  • The ideal candidate for the Catholic Relief Services (CRS) Field Officers Hygiene Promotion job should hold a Degree in relevant Public Health discipline from a recognized academic institution.
  • Appropriate relevant and comprehensive experience in the field of WASH, especially in emergency settings.
  • At least three years’ experience in Uganda refugee settlement is preferred.
  • Previous experience in Hygiene/Health Promotion with NGOs may substitute for the formal qualifications.
  • Proven ability & experience in planning and implementing WASH Programs (in emergency response / recovery and/or long-term development)
  • Proven understanding of good practices in fecal sludge management and hygiene promotion.

About USAID Project:
The University Research Co., LLC (URC), a US-based public health organization working in Uganda since 2005, is implementing the five- year USAID funded project (The Defeat TB project). The purpose of this project is to support the government of Uganda’s TB control program to increase TB case detection and improve treatment outcomes through health system strengthening, with the aim of ending the TB epidemic in Uganda. The Infectious Diseases Institute (IDI) has partnered with the University Research Co. LLC (URC) on this project to provide technical support for Operations Research. USAID/ Defeat TB project together with IDI plan to carry out analyses of routinely collected data in order to evaluate the effect of project interventions on TB case detection and treatment outcomes.

Job Summary:  The Research Fellow will abstract, clean and contribute to the analysis and write up of routinely collected data at health facilities supported by the USAID Defeat TB project in Kampala, Wakiso, Mukono and in regional referral hospitals across the country in accordance with the approved protocol. Each successful participant will be expected to start their fellowship in October 2019. By the end of the six months’ fellowship, each research fellow is expected to produce at least one high quality abstract and at one draft manuscript by the end of their fellowship..

Key Duties and Responsibilities: 
  • Participate in a two-day protocol training workshop.
  • Engage with management at the respective regional referral hospitals and ward in charges through an entry meeting to ensure that seamless data collection processes are carried out
  • Abstract data using approved data abstraction tools.
  • Perform data cleaning and first level data analyses.
  • Work with project statistician to complete data analysis for their allocated research question
  • Complete and submit an abstract to a national or international conference
  • Complete Draft 1 of the manuscript by the end of their fellowship

Qualifications, Skills and Experience: 
  • The applicant should preferably hold a Basic degree in health sciences including medical or allied sciences e.g. medicine, nursing, or laboratory science.
  • Masters’ degree research related discipline e.g. public health, epidemiology and health services research.
  • Experience collecting qualitative data and quantitative data
  • Recent training in Good Clinical Practice
  • Previous experience with scientific writing demonstrated by having submitted an abstract to a national or international conference.
  • Ability to work with data analysis software e.g. SPSS or STATA

Job Summary: The Technical Officer will provide technical and implementation support to all SURM project activities in districts or operation.   • Training of Health Workers and Village Health teams in malaria interventions
