DFCU Limited was started by the Commonwealth Development Corporation (CDC) of the United Kingdom and the Government of Uganda through the Uganda Development Corporation (UDC) under the name of Development Finance Company of Uganda Limited. Later restructuring brought in DEG (of Germany) and International Finance Corporation (IFC) as equal partners with CDC and UDC, each having a 25% stake in the company. Its objective was to support long-term development projects whose financing needs and risk did not appeal to the then existing financial commercial lending institutions.

 

Job Summary:  Reporting to the Chief Retail Banking Officer the Head High Net Worth will be responsible for executing business plans and upholding High Net Worth Operations in alignment with the Retail Banking Strategy, ensuring adherence to established policies and procedures. Additionally, oversee the high net worth portfolio, catering to affluent individuals, managing mortgages, and attending to the needs of Diaspora clients.

 

Key Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Responsible for the overall performance of the High Net Worth segment including sales, balance sheet and income statement.
  • Review the total performance for High Net Worth on a daily, and weekly basis and develop short-term work plan shifts to ensure that overall performance targets are met and exceeded.
  • Carry out Market surveys for competitor analysis on all variables of the proposition.
  • Design and recommend actions relating to the look and feel or expansion of the High-Net-Worth business.
  • Hold regular meetings with High-Net-Worth Team to guide their day-to-day performance
  • Develop a long and standing relationship with a portfolio of this segment by providing practical insights into the business, particularly about account management.
  • Manage and own the relationship with High Net Worth clients.
  • Identify potential new business opportunities and consistently generate innovative ideas for implementing new business opportunities.
  • Grow cross-sell opportunities offered by the bank and expand share of wallet.
  • Grow the Bank’s mortgage and diaspora portfolio.
  • Proactively and regularly improve the value proposition and product offering
  • Identify areas of improvement for existing products and processes. Create recommendations for retail banking leadership to implement such improvements
  • Consistently produce clear project plans, specifying objectives, measures, and targets for the team
  • Proactive, value-adding initiatives and client contact (Organising functions for a portfolio of clients).
  • Responsible for managing first-level asset portfolio management.
  • Periodically guide the team on their KRAs in line with the agreed standards.
  • Provides a regular 2nd face to top clients in High-Net-Worth commercial banking, ensuring that the full extent of their relationships with dfcu is understood and dfcu is available and responsive to their queries on-the go.
  • Initiate interactions with Literacy training consultants and organise Customer engagements sessions to enhance business relationships and customer retentions.
  • Occasionally Join the Sales team on High value customer visits to support on business acquisition. This support includes leads generation for Team follow up.
  • Team management. Recruit, train, coach, mentor, and manage the performance of the High-Net-Worth team to achieve set goals.
  • Supervise end to end handling of customer service concerns escalated by the High-Net-Worth RMs for resolution in a bid to offer exceptional client experience.
  • Visit top customers occasionally to ascertain their business and services recovery.
  • Drive policy adherence ie Adhere to policies including escalation and compliance requirements and follow any other relevant internal controls and procedures as they relate to process, products, policies, and regulation.





Qualifications, Skills and Experience:

  • University graduate (Hons).
  • Six years of experience in a commercial environment
  • Good leadership skills
  • Excellent communication skills – both written and oral
  • Good /high level engagement & negotiation skills
  • Excellent Credit Analysis skills
  • Good knowledge of the Bank’s products, systems and retail banking objectives
  • Excellent relationship management skills
  • Excellent Customer service, interpersonal and negotiating skills.
  • Excellent stakeholder management skills
  • 6 years working experience in a Bank with at least three years in a sales related area.
  • Mature disposition in the handling of High Value personal and Corporate Banking clients
  • Ability to manage time and pressure effectively to ensure no loss of efficiency.
  • Team management experience
  • Good interpersonal skills, communication, and telephone skills
  • Excellent writing ability, able to write outstanding short- or long-copy with ease and efficiency.
  • Excellent communication skills and ability to deal with clients directly.
  • Ability to keep abreast on changes in the market, customer requirements, competitors’ responses and the bank’s ability to use information to identify new business opportunities and threats.
  • Should be able to communicate information and ideas in a clear and concise manner appropriate for the audience/customers /stakeholders internally to explain, persuade, convince and influence others to achieve the desired outcomes.
