About US:

Yalelo (U) Limited is a tilapia fish farm that was established in Uganda in 2019. The farm is located in Butembe, Buikwe district on the shores of Lake Victoria. Yalelo Uganda is a subsidiary of First Wave Group B.V; a Dutch company with a portfolio of aquaculture related assets in Africa. First Wave Group owns and operates Yalelo Zambia, a pioneer of Aquaculture founded in 2011 that has grown quickly to become the leading fish farm in Zambia and among the largest aquaculture farms in Africa.

 

Job Summary:   The Area Sales Lead will be accountable for achieving sales goals and maximising revenue. This encompasses providing direction and leadership to the Store Supervisors in the designated area the Area Sales Lead is attached to. With goal to generate new business, retain superior levels of customer satisfaction and continually expand the company’s market share.

 

Key Duties and Responsibilities:

Sales Execution

  • Maximize Revenue: Optimise sales volumes and average selling price (ASP) and minimize product losses in order to maximize revenue from available production.
  • Lead team in designated area consisting of Sales outlets & sales executives.
  • Point of Sale: Organize team, facility, and processes to ensure a quality purchasing experience for Yalelo customers.
  • Demand planning & allocation: Efficiently organize allocation of the product across customers.
  • Customer acquisition: Utilize salesforce and network to identify and win new customers as required to absorb production.
  • Drive continuous improvement across sales processes in order to achieve high levels of coordination and professionalism.
  • Grow the Sales outlet footprint and grow the Reseller channel, attracting new & big customers that will grow the sales volumes coming out of the commercial strategy.
  • Hunt for new Sales outlet locations by interacting with brokers, being in the field understanding which locations best suit our criteria to open new outlets.

Customer Relationship Management

  • Regularly solicit (and act upon) customer feedback in order to understand their needs and to build satisfaction and loyalty.
  • Resolve any customer disputes or complaints.
  • Ensure business dealings and sales logistics are smooth – it should be easy to buy fish from Yalelo!
  • Monitor customer purchasing trends, and seek to help customers grow their businesses.
  • Win customers for life by maximizing service and business performance through design of customer experience models across channels in YU stores as well as traditional & modern trade.
  • Ensure that the broader management team truly understands our customers and the key drivers of customer satisfaction.

Strategy Development

  • Advise the Head of Sales on pricing, sales channel, and marketing strategies.
  • Share key insights relating to market trends, sales climate, consumer product preferences, and competitor actions.
  • Translate the strategic goals into Sales Outlet operational plans to achieve the required targeted growth in sales and profit by identifying & optimizing promotional.

Team Management and Development.

  • Contribute to clear definition of roles in the functional spaces where Sales connects with other Yalelo departments.
  • Maintain strong, regular, productive communication between the commercial division and adjacent departments, at both a managerial and operational level.
  • Interface efficiently and collaboratively with Finance, Logistics, Lake Operations Security, and Marketing, plus any other departments as needed.
  • Monitor expenditures against budget on a monthly basis which lays out shift duties by employee in advance.
  • In conjunction with   HR   and   the   Head of Sales, co-lead organizational planning and recruitment efforts for the Commercial department.
  • Create and evaluate against clear, appropriate targets for the sales force and other departmental employees as necessary.
  • Lead Performance Management programs in line with guidance from HR
  • Actively provide hands-on guidance to help develop team members, and organize formal training plans together with HR.
  • Enforce discipline in line with company policy.
  • Oversee Compliance in Sales Outlet Operations for the designated area the Area Sales Lead is responsible for.
  • Ensuring that the Sales Outlet operation complies to all policies and procedures relating to Security, Health and Safety and influencing and implementing any changes necessary to meet statutory requirements, ensuring minimum risk to staff members and the business.
  • Ensuring all new shop proposals meet the required return on investment prior to submitting any recommendations to the Head of Sales.
  • Spending time in stores with the Store teams and customers to understand and identify business critical issues in order to ensure the alignment of tactics and strategies.
  • Contribute to clear definition of roles in the functional spaces where Sales connects with other Yalelo departments.
  • Champion financial planning and budgeting by influencing and supporting the Store element of the annual budget process ensuring understanding and buy in from the entire business operations team and constantly reviewing financial data to support the regional managers in providing realistic input into the sales budgets.





Qualifications, Skills and Experience:

  • The applicant must hold a Bachelor’s degree in a Business-Related course (preferred).
  • At least 5 years of Sales Management experience in a FMCG or a related industry, which must include 3 years’ supervisory experience.
  • Proven work experience in corporate/multinational working environment.
  • Action and detail oriented, having a drive for success.
  • Working knowledge of sales and marketing in a competitive environment.
  • Excellent product knowledge with ability to provide detailed product training.
  • Proven ability to increase profitability through key accounts and put in a place an effective revenue cycle management.

  • Computer literate with a working knowledge of the range of MS Office packages and ERP software applications.
