Job Summary:   The Banking Officer -Treasury & Custodial Operations will work hand in hand with the Treasury and Custodial Departments to perform the Treasury Back Office and custodial operations functions for all the products.

 

Key Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Carry out deal validation and settlement following deal payment procedures.
  • Perform the back office function of Treasury Bills, Bonds and other securities including reconciliation.
  • Receive offshore bank statements on a daily basis and forward balances to DTC and Treasury Department.
  • Follow up and resolve outstanding Nostro and BOU items.
  • Submit to supervisor monthly reconciliations for Treasury Bills, Money Markets, Bonds and any other securities that may be held in the Treasury Back Office.
  • Monitor counter party and dealer limits and ensure that there are no breaches.
  • Carry out routine reconciliation and update of static data for both Quantum and INNOVA systems
  • Confirm and process all custody payments/instructions as received from authorized parties.
  • Support clients’ Central Securities Depository (CSD) account opening prior to performing all the necessary KYC verifications.
  • Verify and process bank/customer securities (Government T-Bills & Bonds) instructions in CSD and the bank’s core banking system.
  • Match outgoing against incoming deal confirmations and raise discrepancies with counterparties.
  • Support the business function in custodial reporting
  • Ensure that both outgoing and incoming payments in respect of deals are settled on time
  • Claim interest from counter parties who delay to make good their obligations
  • Reconcile and update Forex rates in IGOR
  • Perform end of day reconciliations to ensure all the day’s transactions are correctly reflected in the core banking system.
  • Manage and resolve customer queries and complaints (both under Treasury and Custodial services)
  • Call waste
  • Perform any other duties that may be assigned from time to time by management.




Qualifications, Skills and Experience:

  • The applicant must hold a University degree in finance, business, commerce or economics
  • Two years of banking experience
  • ACI qualification or a postgraduate qualification in finance, banking or marketing or any related field is an added advantage.

  • Good verbal and written communication skills
