Job Summary:  The Banking Officer – Reconciliations will maintain a good control environment to ensure that risk is effectively managed, through smooth operations of the Head Office reconciliations (NOSTRO and Other GL Accounts) in accordance with laid down process flows, policies and procedures.

 

Key Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Reconcile all Nostro and allocated general ledger accounts as per the set frequency as per bank’s policy and procedures. (Agency Banking, Omni channels reconciliation, Money transfers, Utility reconciliations).
  • Actively follow up all outstanding transactions with the responsible teams to ensure that there are no long outstanding items as per ageing analysis.
  • Escalation of suspicious and unresolved items that have been previously advised to departments.
  • Prepare monthly escalation, RCSA and KRI reports for review by Supervisor as per stipulated timelines.
  • Monthly archival of all Unit reports and other documents.
  • Comply with AML/CFT/CPF policies and procedures, non-compliance of which shall be addressed as per the bank disciplinary processes.
  • Track and monitor audit and BoU exceptions and ensure compliance/closure as per stipulated timelines.
  • Participate in projects or other departmental initiatives e.g. process review
  • Fully participate in BCP in the department.
  • Observe that department costs are reasonable and properly managed by keeping costs to a minimum, recycling resources where possible and sourcing for only what is required.
  • Ensure proper management of the assigned fixed Assets.
  • Ensure compliance with Operations, Risk, Compliance, Security, Anti-Money Laundering, KYC, Policies and Procedures.
  • Comply with service level agreements to ensure delivery at set times.
  • Submit reconciliations daily as per stipulated timelines.
  • Participate in internal training and initiate need for external trainings.
  • Take leave as scheduled and ensure that there are no backlogs.
  • Perform any other duties that can be assigned from time to time

 

Key Performance Indicators

  • Financial – No losses due to reconciliation failure or unidentifiable reconciliation items, deposit mobilisation, open new accounts.
  • Customer – Submit all reports within the set timeframe, engage stakeholders.
  • Processes – Audit, Risk and compliance ratings, closure of audit findings.
  • People – No leave backlogs, time management, training.





Qualifications, Skills and Experience:

  • The applicant must hold a Bachelor’s Degree in Commerce/Business Administration or any related field.
  • Good accounting knowledge
  • Exposure in ICT especially Microsoft packages like Excel, word, outlook.
