About US:

XSML is a fund manager investing in frontier markets in Central and East Africa. XSML, eXtra Small Medium Large, aims to grow small businesses into medium and large enterprises. International investors are increasingly interested in emerging markets. Yet small and medium sized enterprises (SMEs) continue to have difficulty finding the right financing.

 

XSML, eXtra Small Medium Large, founded in 2008, bridges this gap by investing in small businesses to help them grow into medium and large enterprises.

 

Key Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Identify new business opportunities in countries of operation (Uganda);
  • Write investment proposals;
  • Build financial model and forecasts for investments;
  • Participate in the structuring and negotiating of investments;
  • Monitor and improve the operational and financial performance of portfolio investments;
  • Establish, build and maintain productive relationships with clients, the private business community, banks in Central & East Africa;
  • Keep abreast of market developments and business conditions in Central & East Africa, providing local market intelligence and analysis.

Qualifications, Skills and Experience:

  • The applicant must hold a Master’s in Accounting, Finance, Economics, Management or Engineering. Further qualification CFA, ACCA would be a plus.
  • At least two years of experience in the financial sector with a proven track record in developing and executing successful transactions, preferably in providing finance to SMEs in Uganda;
  • Strong financial analysis and financial modelling skills;
  • In-depth understanding and knowledge of the Ugandan business environment and key players;
  • Ability to work in teams, deliver high quality work within deadlines, and to meet team objectives;
  • Ability to lead (deal) teams;
  • Excellent interpersonal skills, with the ability to establish and develop relationships.
  • Strong oral, written, and presentation skills – fluency in English;
  • Be native Ugandan and based in Uganda.
