CURE Children’s Hospital of Uganda, a Private-Not-For-Profit (PNFP) Christian hospital specialized in pediatric neurosurgery and integrated spiritual ministry.

 

Job Summary: The individual in this role will be responsible for collecting, authoring, and uploading content and media to support the CUREkids program as well as other communications meant for use on the website, social media, and in print both. The CUREkids coordinator is essentially the eyes and ears of CURE, documenting the lives of those the organization serves and the people serving them. This content will support CURE International’s Mission Support Center (MSC) and the local hospital’s marketing and donor support needs.

 

Key Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Capture before images and media for each child undergoing treatment at CURE Hospitals
  • In conjunction with the communications manager, select the highest priority stories and capture during patient visits at CURE
  • Effectively document compelling stories that communicate the overall experience of children who are undergoing treatment at a CURE hospital.
  • Provide quality content for the CUREkids program by creating CUREkids profiles and keeping all profile data updated with the most recent information.
  • Collaborate cross-departmentally at the local hospital for a variety of content regarding the child or child’s family that can be added in order to develop a holistic and robust story during their stay and updates for the future.
  • Complete regular check-ins with your direct supervisor at the local hospital in order to assess the hospital’s internal communications, marketing, and/or donor support needs.
  • Communicate with the Communications Manager through regular teleconferences and email.
  • Provide communications support to the Mission Support Center’s Advancement team through donor thank you videos.
  • Be an active participant in helping to host and represent CURE to individuals who visit the hospital

Qualifications, Skills and Experience:

  • At least 1-2 years of experience with photography, videography, and photojournalism.
  • Fluent in English and able to speak local languages.
  • Ability to communicate effectively in written English
  • Experience with Internet social media tools including Facebook, Instagram, YouTube, Twitter, blogs, and email.
  • Experience using, or exposure to, Adobe Lightroom or related software.
  • Experience using, or exposure to, Mac OS X.
  • Passionate about the mission of CURE.
  • Love for children and their families.
  • Comfortable working in a medical setting.
  • Advanced photography and video competence regarding DSLR and/or mirrorless cameras, lighting, composition, editing, etc.
  • Excellent ability to write and communicate in short form for a western audience.
