About US:

Yalelo (U) Limited is a tilapia fish farm that was established in Uganda in 2019. The farm is located in Butembe, Buikwe district on the shores of Lake Victoria. Yalelo Uganda is a subsidiary of First Wave Group B.V; a Dutch company with a portfolio of aquaculture related assets in Africa. First Wave Group owns and operates Yalelo Zambia, a pioneer of Aquaculture founded in 2011 that has grown quickly to become the leading fish farm in Zambia and among the largest aquaculture farms in Africa.

 

Job Summary:  The Finance Assistant will be responsible for recording all project transactions including posting of credits and debits, and feed the Finance Team with information, and support, handle all administrative roles including but not limited to banking, reconciliation and maintaining a basic general ledger in line with the company policy.

 

Key Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Record accounts payables and accounts receivables, from start to finish and ensure records are maintained.
  • Update financial spreadsheets with daily transactions
  • Maintenance of the general ledger for PSFU project
  • Banking: deposit all cash received and carry out daily bank reconciliations
  • Review and track participants claim and make reimbursements if any, once approved
  • Provide administrative support to the Project coordinator and undertake any other duties as and when required.




Qualifications, Skills and Experience:

  • The applicant must hold a Diploma in Accounting & Finance, Business Administration, or a related field
  • Two years of experience in a similar or related role
  • Strong interpersonal, communication and presentation skills
  • Strong analytical skills
  • Good organization skills
  • Ability to work unsupervised and under pressure with tight deadlines
  • High degree of accuracy and attention to detail
  • Hands-on experience with MS Excel and other accounting tools
  • Knowledge of general accounting principles, regulatory standards and compliance requirements.
