About US:

ACORD-U (Agency for Cooperation in Research and Development – Uganda) is an indigenous Non Governmental Organization (NGO) working for social justice and development. ACORD has been working in Uganda since 1979 with operations in over 25 districts across Uganda. The ACORD-U works in conjunction with people who have been denied their basic rights, helping to better understand, to challenge, and to change the situation in which they find themselves.

 

Key Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Drive ACORD vehicles on official duties as may be assigned by the Cluster Manager, Programme Manager or any other authorized officer.
  • To carry out simple repair of ACORD vehicles, motorcycles and maintain service cards, to keep track of work done and parts replaced, removed etc.
  • To liaise with the procurement and logistics officer on procurement of spare parts and accessories for repair of vehicles, motorcycles, etc.
  • To supervise servicing and maintenance of vehicles, motorcycles etc. and keep proper records that can be accessed for verification.
  • Be responsible for the safe delivery of project materials and equipment placed under your custody during transit on project vehicles.
  • Ensure cleanliness and good mechanical condition of ACORD vehicles under your control.
  • Report any vehicle damages to management.
  • Report to management when vehicles are due for third party.
  • Follow the laid down vehicles control procedures especially regarding logging of mileage and fuel and ensure effective adherence to them.
  • Do any other duty that is in the interest of ACORD that may be assigned to you by the authorized officer.




Qualifications, Skills and Experience:

  • Driving Permit of at least class B plus a minimum of a UCE certificate
  • Possession of classes; A, CM, CH, DH and DM is an added advantage
  • Five years of driving experience with an NGO or related entity.
  • She/he should have demonstrated understanding of transportation
  • She/he will have demonstrated skills to work in project teams.
  • Ability to multi Task and work under pressure to deliver results.
