Job Title:  Accounts Payable Controller

Duty Station:  Kampala, Uganda

It maintains subsidiaries and operations in 16 countries across Africa that encompass the supply, storage, distribution, and retail of a range of petroleum products.

 

Key Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Ensure timely payments to suppliers and tax authorities.
  • Ensure supplier invoices submitted are uploaded in the Invoice Tracker as guided by the Service Level Agreement.
  • Monitor the invoice Tracker and share status of the invoice approvals regularly with all stakeholders.
  • Ensure correct allocation of company expenses.
  • Ensure invoice documents comply with the Local Tax Authority and Internal control requirements.
  • Reconcile balance sheet accounts as assigned with a zero margin of error.
  • Ensure the right application and treatment of WHT & VAT for qualifying Vendors as guided by the Local Tax Authority.
  • Reconcile and monitor schedules of all Prepayments accounts including Prepaid Duty giving regular updates on the reasons why they remain outstanding if any.
  • Perform Vendor Reconciliations between the General Ledger and Supplier Statements of Accounts on an ongoing basis




Qualifications, Skills and Experience:

  • The ideal applicant must hold a Bachelor’s degree in Commerce, Statistics, Business Administration or Economics
  • At least three years of experience in the Accounts Payable Section
  • A Professional Qualification is an added advantage.
  • Knowledge of the Uganda Tax Laws
