Job Summary:  The Laboratory Inventory Officer will be responsible for assisting the Laboratory Inventory Team leader in tracking inventory at the different sites through spot checks and stock taking exercises. Assist in report compilations and needs assessment.

 

Key Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Sourcing and evaluation of new/improved products and making recommendations to the Laboratory Inventory Team Leader
  • Act as a resource person for the laboratory staff and stakeholders regarding procurement of consumable supplies.
  • Ensures that the laboratory staff and clients are aware of procedures for efficient ordering, receiving, storage and distribution of all laboratory supplies.
  • Support inventory and stock taking exercises in all Rocket Health sites.
  • Support the Inventory Team leader in data collection for report compilation purposes.
  • Maintain proper Inventory records and documentation
  • Supplier engagement and benchmarking.
  • Support in the training of lab staff on newly supplied equipment and diagnostic technologies
  • Perform any other related task that may be assigned




Qualifications, Skills and Experience:

  • The ideal candidate must hold a Bachelor’s degree in any relevant science discipline.
  • A minimum of a credit score in math and English at UCE or recognized equivalent.
  • Two years of relevant experience working with medical inventory in a busy clinical or medical organization
  • Additional certification in inventory management is an added advantage
  • Outstanding communication skills, both written and verbal in English.
  • Outstanding organizational and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to perform to a high level of accuracy.
  • Computer literate with knowledge of Microsoft Office applications
  • Excellent administrative skills with the ability to maintain accurate and comprehensive record keeping
  • Flexibility to occasionally work outside of normal hours to meet deadlines
  • Competence in motorcycle riding is an added advantage
