Job Summary: International Justice Mission (IJM) is looking for a responsible, courteous, and organized individual who shall provide secure and timely transportation to IJM staff and visitors as well as perform assigned casework related tasks. S/He should have a proven track record of safe, skillful driving with the ability to follow pre-arranged movement plans to destinations, follow the organization’s policies as well as national traffic rules and regulations. The Driver/Field Security will work closely with Coordinator Security, Transport Lead and Senior Managers to ensure staff safety on the road and proper maintenance of organizations vehicles on/off road. The role will also include preparing movement plans and reporting for easy support during movements.

 

Key Duties and Responsibilities:

Casework:

  • Provide navigation and translation support for IJM staff and clients.
  • Provide security support at IJM field visits and other events
  • Complete case security risk assessments and any incident reports as required.
  • Perform miscellaneous casework related tasks (delivering supplies, assist with surveys, run errands, etc.) as needed.

Events and Logistics:

  • Drive IJM’s vehicles for IJM staff, clients and guests for business purposes.
  • Ensure timely conveyance of staff and materials to and from places as instructed by supervisor or the manager

Vehicle Service and Maintenance

  • Schedule regular vehicle examination for service vehicles with the Transport Lead and apply for the renewal for the vehicle license
  • Determine when and what kind of maintenance the vehicle needs, keep track of general maintenance schedules, including car tyre condition
  • Ensure sound running of the vehicles assigned and arrange minor repairs where necessary
  • Keep track of timely car insurance renewals.
  • Carry out daily vehicle checklist
  • Update monthly mileage records
  • Maintain logbook of all movements on daily basis

General tasks:

  • Ensure that vehicles are always kept perfect and clean by washing both the inside and outside parts of the vehicle
  • Assist in maintaining records of use, condition and fuel consumption of IJM vehicles.
  • Be responsive to security risks levels and mitigate risk accordingly.
  • Report any case of accident, injury or damage of vehicles to the supervisor or manager

 



Qualifications, Skills and Experience:

  • At least five years of experience as a professional driver.
  • Valid Driver’s License (with at least B,C1,D1 classes), a certificate from defensive driving course, and experience driving manual vehicles on rough terrain.
  • Fluency in English and local languages, with excellent writing and speaking in both.
  • Computer literate with proficiency in MS Word, Outlook, and Excel.

Technical Competencies

  • Knowledge of geography and roads of Fort Portal, and surrounding areas.
  • Understanding of maintenance requirements for four-wheel-drive vehicles.
  • Familiarity with pricing for vehicle maintenance and repair.
  • Understanding of security protocols and procedures, preferably with a police or military background.

  • Professional in demeanor, appearance, writing and oral communication.

What is a statement of faith?

A statement of faith should describe your Christian faith and how you see it as relevant to your involvement with IJM. The statement can either be incorporated into the cover letter or submitted as a separate document and should include, at a minimum, a description of your spiritual disciplines (prayer, study, etc.) and your current fellowship or place of worship.
