Job Summary:  In close consultation with the HR Director and the HR team, the job holder will contribute to the implementation of the Human Resources strategy in compliance with the Policies and the Ugandan labor laws. Further, s/he supports the recruitment and on boarding of new staff and ensures that the entire recruitment process is adhered to, ensures that the organization’s compensation guidelines are clearly communicated and consistently administered in attracting and retaining employees, and leads and coordinates development of a non-monetary employee recognition scheme to reward high performing employees in addition to performance-based salary adjustments. In addition, the job holder will ensure that child and adult safeguarding policies are communicated, awareness is raised, programs implemented are safe and staff know the process of raising and responding to concerns and allegations. The job holder will spend 50% of their time in the field supporting field offices and humanitarian/emergency response operations. In the event of a major humanitarian emergency, the role holder will be expected to work outside the normal role profile and be able to vary working hours accordingly.





Qualifications, Skills and Experience:

  • The ideal applicant must hold a Bachelor’s degree in Humanities. Post graduate training in Human Resource Management is an added advantage
  • At least four (4) years’ HR experience in a similar position, preferably with an International NGO.
  • Demonstrated understanding and proficiency in the field of Human Resources Management and ability to work under minimum supervision.
  • Good understanding of national legal requirements relating to HR, including labor laws and administrative law.
  • Good understanding of employment related statutory requirements, organizational policies, systems and procedures formulation and management.
  • Good Interview, negotiation, listening and counselling skills.
  • Strong experience within recruitment, operating at different levels of the business, and familiarity with competency models
  • Experience and capability with regards to direct sourcing approaches
  • Highly developed cultural awareness and ability to work well in an international environment with people from diverse backgrounds and cultures.
  • A sensitive approach to advising and mentoring staff and to dealing with critical issues.
  • Excellent planning, coordination and reporting skills, with the ability to organize a substantial workload comprised of complex, diverse tasks and responsibilities.
  • Creative and visionary
  • Ability to intervene with crisis management or troubleshooting as necessary.
  • Highly developed interpersonal and communication skills including influencing, negotiation and coaching
  • Computer literacy and excellent documentation skills are a must.
  • Excellent time management and planning capacity
  • Able to remain calm when working under pressure whilst maintaining a high-quality output
  • Excellent stakeholder and candidate management skills, able to consistently deliver a high-quality experience
  • Quality focused with strong attention to detail
