The Cross-Cultural Foundation of Uganda (CCFU) is a non-governmental organisation incorporated in 2006 to “promote the recognition of culture as vital for human development that responds to our diverse identities”. CCFU’s work is anchored on 3 programme areas: Cultural Heritage Safeguarding and Promotion; Cultural Rights Promotion; and Managing Cultural Diversity.

 

Job Summary:  CCFU is seeking to recruit a Young Professional to carry out a broad range of Information Communication Technology (ICT) functions to enable the provision of ICT solutions and services for its office and partners, and assist in the delivery of the Foundation’s administrative and programmatic objectives.

 

Purpose of the job: Within CCFU, the Communications Unit aims at providing continuous and reliable and well supported ICT infrastructure, deliver reliable ICT support, foster innovations, and provide efficient     ICT services and solutions to end-users in a timely, secure, and resource-considerate manner to strengthen programme   and operational effectiveness and efficiency.

 

The purpose of this role is to carry out broad ICT functions and enable the provision of ICT solutions and services and assist in the delivery of results within the Foundation and among its partners. The Young professional will report directly to the Heritage Programmes and Communications Coordinator but ultimately responsible to the Executive Director.

 

Key Duties and Responsibilities: The Young Professional responsible for ICT will deliver the following key functions:

Enable continuous operation of ICT infrastructure and services:

  • Ensure the CCFU managed websites and other digital pages are running with no or minimal downtime
  • Ensure physical and logical security and safety of ICT infrastructure.
  • Manage changes and apply upgrades, security updates and patches on IT equipment
  • Monitor, assess and verify the use of ICT resources to ensure compliance to professional standards and copyright regulations
  • Support a robust inhouse data management, access, and recovery system

Strengthen the capacity of staff and selected partners on relevant ICT skills

  • Support the planning, organising and implementation of capacity building and knowledge management initiatives to enhance staff competencies especially in ICT
  • Support operational and administrative tasks:
  • Monitor risks and threats to ICT environment or infrastructure. Inform the Communications Coordinator and take appropriate action following agreement on appropriate action.
  • Initiate and propose ICT driven solutions to improve productivity, efficiency, and effectiveness
  • Support the organisation and effective delivery of CCFU events, especially technicalities in managing online events
  • When delegated by the Executive Director, represent CCFU at events, meetings, or discussions
  • Work closely with the Finance and Administration Officer on inventory and asset management
  • Support the development and dissemination of digital content, including graphics design, audiovisual content production, and related tasks




Qualifications, Skills and Experience:

  • A minimum of one year of professional experience in information technology management is required.
  • Proven experience in LAN/WAN and WLAN operations is strongly required
  • Proven web server development and administration experience
  • Experience in end users’ trainings (content development, planning and delivery) is an additional advantage
  • The willingness and ability to learn about the field of cultural heritage safeguarding and promotion

Technical skills and Knowledge:

  • A clear understanding and competence in working with programming languages and relevant applications (HTML, CSS, JavaScript, PowerApps, Python., etc.)
  • Familiar with web conferencing and collaboration tools and operations (Zoom, MS Team, WebEx, Team Viewer, etc.)
  • Knowledge in cloud computing required
