About US:

Sole Hope is a team of approximately 55 Ugandans and a handful of Americans working to bring hope and healing to people suffering from jiggers. Sole Hope employs about 25 full-time Ugandan men and women to handcraft our shoes!  We are currently making about 11,000 pairs of shoes per year. Closed-toed shoes help prevent jigger infestation for people that wear them.  They protect feet in harsh conditions and a source of pride for people that own them.  Our shoes are handcrafted in Uganda, but they start their journey with you! You can use your hands and your old jeans bring new life to vulnerable people in Uganda.

 

Job Summary:  Reporting to the Program Team Leader, Sole Hope is seeking to recruit suitably qualified personnel for the position of Residential Facility Coordinator to contribute to the coordination and implementation of the Residential Treatment Centre activities.

 

Key Duties and Responsibilities: 

  • The position holder will oversee Residential Treatment Centre activities aimed at improving patients’ welfare and the environment in which they live.
  • Ensure that all activities are conducted in compliance with Sole Hope’s Vision, Mission, Policies, Values and the Laws of Uganda.
  • Administrative and managerial roles of staff in the department.
  • The successful candidate will be based in Jinja, Buwenda and must be willing to respond to direct jigger infestation activities within the areas of operation when requested.




Qualifications, Skills and Experience:

  • The applicant must hold a Bachelor’s Degree in Social Work, Social Sciences, Development Studies, or a related field of study from a recognized institution
  • Training in a medical field e.g. nursing certificate is an added advantage.
  • Proven knowledge in Child protection is a MUST.
  • Experience in working with both formal and informal community structures and organizations in a rural setting.
  • Ability to interact with community groups and communicate in Lugishu and Lusoga
  • People management skills – team building initiatives
  • Experience in managing a client residential facility is desirable
