Makerere University,
Kampala is Uganda’s largest and oldest institution of higher
learning, first established as a technical school in 1922. It became
an independent national university in 1970. Today, Makerere University is
composed of nine colleges and one school offering programmes for about 36,000
undergraduates and 4,000 postgraduates.

 

Key Duties and Responsibilities:  

·       
Provide
technical guidance on mechanical services;

·       
Design
building mechanical services

·       
Prepare
conceptual and detailed designs

·       
Supervise
construction of building mechanical services projects

·       
Inspect
building mechanical services projects with time and budget

·       
Prepare
and study contract documents for mechanical building services projects

·       
Study
the mechanical components of buildings and make recommendations on renovations
or disposal if they are beyond repair;

·       
Attend
site meetings and approve payment certificates

·       
Supervise
water meter installations, meter readings and billing process for water;

·       
Curb
illegal water connections

·       
Perform
any other duties as assigned by the Supervisor

 


Qualifications, Skills and Experience:

·       
The
applicant must hold an Honours bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering from
a recognized institution.

·       
Must be
a member of Uganda Institute of Professional Engineers.

·       
Must be
a registered Engineer with valid practicing license from Engineers Registration
Board.

·       
At least
three years of experience in the relevant work.

·       
Good
communication, leadership and interpersonal skills

·       
Proficient
in using relevant computer packages

·       
Teamwork
and team building

·       
High
integrity

·       
Age: Below 40 years
