About US:

The International
Institute of Tropical Agriculture (IITA) is one of the 15 Institutes of the
CGIAR global research partnerships with headquarters in Ibadan Nigeria. IITA is
a nonprofit organization governed by a Board of Trustees and has a permanent
office in Uganda. IITA focused primarily on improving cassava and banana-based
systems in the nineties. The research focus over the past 5-10 years has
expanded to include research on: climate change, trade-off analysis for
smallholder livelihoods, Innovation systems and impact pathways, and
Institutional and policy dimensions from local to national level.

 

Job Summary:  The Software Developer will support CSA
Program portfolio, will train users of developed software and contribute to
protocol designs and tool development

 

Key Duties and Responsibilities:  

·       
Conduct/
provide technical input into ICT needs and capacity assessment.

·       
Conduct
ToT on use of ICT Decision Support Tools.

·       
Monitor
adoption of ICT decision support tools.

·       
Contribute
technical input in the Stepwise Impact Assessment design, protocol and tool
development.

·       
Support
the data analyst with data entry and compilation.

·       
Provide
ICT technical content for project communication and learning products,
including project briefs, blogs and scientific publications and articles.

·       
Identify
and regularly engage with ICT platforms and agri-business platforms to share
learning and identify synergies and potential partnerships.

·       
Regular
progress reporting, contributing to internal monthly IITA Hub reporting,
monthly/ quarterly/ annual donor technical and financial reports and trip
reporting from all field activities

·       
Contribute
to resource mobilization through development of concept notes and proposals in
collaboration with others.

·       
Any
other duties assigned.

 

Qualifications, Skills and Experience:

·       
The
applicant must hold a Bachelor’s degree in software Technology, with
specialization in software development and 4 years relevant working experience,
in similar responsibility.

·       
Knowledge
and experience working with Research organizations

·       
Experience
in designing protocol tools.

·       
Excellent
communication skills in English, both written and oral

·       
Writing
reports.

·       
Computer
proficiency including MS Office (Word/ PowerPoint, excel skills)

·       
Ability
to complete multiple tasks under pressure and work in a multi-cultural team
environment
