About 3D- PETRA Project:

HI Uganda is
implementing a Comprehensive Refugee Health Response project together with
Medical Teams International (MTI) in Arua District. The project provides
comprehensive physical rehabilitation services with provision of physiotherapy,
assistive devices and psychosocial support services to people with disabilities
and other vulnerable population in both the refugee and host communities in
Arua District. The project is currently operating in Omugo, Imvepi and Rhino
Camp Refugee Settlements and surrounding host community settlements.

Under the Health
Response Project, HI is launching an innovative project: 3D Printing through
Emergency Tele Rehab Access (3D-PETRA) which will bring appropriate, life
changing orthopedic devices to people in need in Arua District. The aim of the
Project is to develop effective solutions combining telemedicine, CAD CAM and
3D printing, in order to provide and increase access to orthotic devices for
use in emergencies and remote settings:

Job Summary:  The 3D Printing Technician will works within
the Comprehensive Refugee Health Response project to participate to the 3D
printing process for the delivery of orthoses.

S/he will be under
the supervision of the Project Manager, with technical support from the
Prosthetics & Orthotics Technical Advisor 

Key Duties and Responsibilities: 

3D printer
operator:

  • Receive, check and validate the conformity of rectified digital
    positives of orthoses sent by the P&O TA.
  • Print the orthoses accordingly to an agenda validated by the P&O
    TA.
  • Check the quality of the printed orthoses
  • Validate the final product and send it to the P&O TA.

Technical

  • Responsible for operating 3D Printer.
  • Responsible for performing daily preventive maintenance of the
    printer,
  • Maintain regularly the printing room electricity supply, AC…
  • If needed ask for specialized engineer/technician for repairs and
    follow the work done
  • Manage the supply of raw material such as filament (procurement,
    storage.)

Coordination

  • Regular meetings with the P&O TA and other rehabilitation
    professionals for the design of the printed orthoses, modification.
  • Technical support to the team, use of scanners, explanations about
    3D printer performance
  • Activity report.
  • Follow training sessions done by the 3D printer international expert
    and communicate with this person for improvement of competencies.

Qualifications, Skills and Experience: 

  • The ideal candidate for the Handicap International (Humanity &
    Inclusion) 3D Printing Technician job must hold a Higher education in
    electronics or mechanics studies.
  • Computing/informatics knowledge and experience.
  • A minimum of three years of experience in this field of expertise.
  • CAD CAM system experience is an asset.
  • Strong interpersonal skills; ability to work within a team
  • Able to work under pressure; willingness to work in difficult
    environment
  • Strong problem solving abilities and aptitude for math and science
  • Shows strong creativity and innovations especially in limited
    situations
  • Shows compassion and ability to properly communicate with
    beneficiaries, families/caretakers and other allied and medical staff
  • Motivated, dynamic; able and willing to take initiatives
  • Fluent in written and spoken English an asset
