About US:
The Uganda Refinery
Holding Company (URHC) is a Private Limited Liability Company incorporated
under the Companies Act (2012). It is a wholly owned subsidiary of the Uganda
National Oil Company (UNOC) Ltd. The purpose of the URHC is to hold, on behalf
of UNOC, interest in the refinery project planned to be developed in Kabaale,
Hoima District and its associated infrastructure. URHC has also been given the
mandate to develop, operationalize and manage the 29.57 km2 Kabaale petro-based
Industrial Park (KIP).
Job Summary:  The Head Contracts and Negotiation will negotiate
and manage all Contracts
Key Duties and Responsibilities: 
·        
Draft,
review and negotiate contracts and/or agreements on behalf the Uganda National
Oil Company (UNOC) and ensure the achievement of the Company’s desired risk
allocation position.
·        
Drive
contract life cycle from drafting through completion of negotiation process
and/or contract execution.
·        
Interpret
contracts for all sections of UNOC, contract managers and where necessary the
subsidiaries of UNOC on contractual responsibilities and risk.
·        
Translate
complex legal/commercial scenarios into simple language and action plan.
·        
Develop
a mentoring programme for junior staff and provide input into the training and
staff development program.
·        
Develop
and execute negotiation strategies for UNOC in different projects and/or
contracts and ensure the relevant sections are trained and guided in executing
the same.
·        
Manage
staff in the division.
·        
Ensure
compliance to company policy in the negotiation and execution of contracts by
UNOC.
·        
Perform
any other duties as may be assigned from time to time.

Qualifications, Skills and Experience: 
·        
A
master’s degree in Law in petroleum related studies, commercial law, corporate
law, project finance or Management.
·        
An
honours bachelor’s degree in law(LLB)
·        
A
diploma in legal practice.
·        
The
Candidate must be an enrolled Advocate with a valid practicing licence.
·        
The
candidate must have at least 10 years’ experience in a busy corporate entity of
high repute, five of which should be in at least a mid-level leadership
position.
·        
Experience
in negotiating oil and gas, large infrastructure or high value projects is
relevant.
·        
Experience
in providing advisory services for a large corporate entity is relevant.
·        
Experience
in drafting complex contracts and managing the lifecycle of the same relevant.
·        
Knowledge
and experience in analysing and allocating risk in contracts will be an added
advantage.
·        
Proven
track record of excellent performance is essential
