Uganda Development
Corporation (UDC) has been revived as an investment arm through which
Government will invest in strategic Sectors of the economy in partnership with
the private sector to trigger industrial and economic development of the
country. The mandate of UDC is to promote and facilitate the industrial and
economic development of Uganda.
Job Summary: The
Director Finance & Administration will plan, direct and control financial
resources of the Corporation, report on their use to the Executive
Director/Accounting Officer, management and other stakeholders.
Key Duties and Responsibilities: 
  • Head of department and responsible for planning, managing and
    mentoring staff in the department
  • Head the Finance & Administration function
  • Contribute to overall leadership, strategic planning and management
    of the Corporation
  • Oversee and supervise administrative function including property and
    facilities management, procurement and human resources and accounting
  • Provide advice on matters related to insurance and contractual
    obligations
  • Develop and oversee implementation of risk management policies and
    procedures and ensure organizational risks are minimized
  • Oversee payroll function and ensure employees are paid timely and in
    an accurate manner
  • Preparing monthly, quarterly and annual management accounts and
    reports
  • Coordinate and oversee internal and external audit
  • Ensuring timely procurement and payment of the goods and services
    provided.
  • Perform any other duties that may be assigned from time to time

Qualifications, Skills and Experience: 
  • The applicant must hold a Master’s degree in Accounting, Business
    Administration (MBA) OR Membership of a Professional body (ACCA, CPA, CIMA
    & ICMA) or an equivalent membership to a professional accounting body.
  • Bachelor’s Degree in Commerce, Business Administration, Financial
    Management or Accounting
  • Post Graduate Qualifications in Management or Administration is
    desirable
  • Ten years of working experience, five of which are at supervisory
    level in Finance & Administration in a large and reputable
    organization.
  • Knowledge of computerized Accounting
  • Excellent communication and networking skills
  • Strong report writing and presentation skills
  • Ability to work independently and with strong organizational and
    planning skills
  • Ability to work in a diverse environment as a team
  • Ability to work under pressure and to make informed and accurate
    decisions.
