and internally displaced people. NRC advocates for the rights of displaced populations
and offers assistance within the shelter, education, emergency food security,
legal assistance, and water, sanitation and hygiene sectors.
Job Summary: The Project
Assistant – Shelter will provide support in the implementation of construction
activities being carried out by NRC in Palorinya Refugee Settlement.
Key Duties and Responsibilities:
  • Ensuring
    all project activities are in accordance with budgetary constraints and
    being implemented on schedule.
  • Providing
    support in planning for project implementation including technical
    activity, financial and procurement planning.
  • Assisting
    in the development and design of new construction projects.
  • Participate
    in the tendering and bid analysis for contracts for service delivery and
    materials.
  • Preparation
    of periodic reports on the construction activities, including
    documentation of final hand over and closure of projects.
  • Participation
    in NRC construction quality assurance and report validation.
  • Investigating
    and facilitating introduction of new technologies and approaches for
    shelter provision.
  • Represent
    NRC at relevant theme cluster and other coordination meetings.



Qualifications, Skills and Experience:
  • The
    applicant for the Norwegian Refugee Council (NRC) Project Assistant –
    Shelter job opportunity should hold a Higher Diploma in construction,
    civil engineering or its equivalent
  • Experience
    from working in WASH/Shelter in a humanitarian/recovery context
  • Previous
    experience from working in complex and volatile contexts
  • Documented
    results related to the position’s responsibilities
  • Fluency
    in English, both written and verbal
  • Knowledge
    of Swahili and Runyakitara is an added advantage
