About UNRA:
The
Uganda National Roads Authority (UNRA) was established by an Act of Parliament;
The Uganda National Authority Act, No. 15 of 2006. UNRA became operational on
1st July 2008.  The mandate of UNRA is to
develop and maintain the national roads network, advise Government on general
roads policy and contribute to addressing of transport concerns, among others.
Job Summary: The Traffic and Road Safety Officer will mainly be
responsible for carrying out road user education through the media, community
meetings, workshops and Information Education and Communication (IEC)
materials.
Key Duties and Responsibilities:
  • Prepare and implement road user education strategy
    in line with departmental guidelines and targets;
  • Actively participate in planning, budgeting
    and reporting in line with departmental
  • guidelines and targets;
  • Conduct road user education campaigns in line
    with departmental sensitization programs and targets;
  • Develop risk matrix and put in place risk mitigation
    measures in the area of traffic and road safety;
  • Quickly respond to audit reports and implement
    agreed recommendations within specified time frames;
  • Conduct the evaluation of effectiveness of
    media campaign in line with departmental guidelines and standards;
  • Perform any other duties as assigned by the Head
    Road Safety
Qualifications, Skills and Experience:
  • The applicant for the UNRA Traffic and Road
    Safety Officer vacancy should hold an Honors Degree in Education,
    Economics, Business Administration, Social Sciences, or a degree in any
    other relevant field;
  • Three years’ experience in roads safety
    education.
  • Computer literacy skills
  • High level of integrity;
  • Ability to work as part of a team and to
    develop subordinates;
  • Excellent interpersonal, particularly
    staff/management relation skills
  • Excellent oral and written communication
    skills.
