like to recruit for a valuable client aBi Trust. The Agribusiness Initiative
(aBi) Trust is an institution set up by the governments of Uganda and Denmark
to support agribusiness initiatives in the country. In particular it is to
support the private sector to increase their contribution to the agricultural
sector by increasing productivity and competitiveness leading to poverty
reduction through economic growth, wealth, and employment creation.  The vision of aBi Trust is of “competitive
private sector led agriculture in Uganda” with the mission to “promote private
sector driven agribusiness development to enhance wealth creation in the
country.” The aBi Trust achieves its mission and vision through interrelated
subcomponents.
Job Summary:  The Credit Officer will be responsible for
ensuring prospective Agribusinesses seeking financing from aBi are adequately
appraised for consideration. The incumbent will also emphasize and protect high
Portfolio Quality (Guarantees, Loans and Other Investments). The job holder
will also make sure there is integration of services within aBi by offering
most appropriate instrument(s).
Key Duties and Responsibilities: 
·        
The incumbent will appraise potential Agribusinesses
for financing via the most appropriate instrument(s).
·        
Offer technical input into the due diligence process
as jointly conducted by respective aBi units.
·        
Actively monitor loan portfolio and propose remedial
action where necessary.
·        
Appraise Guarantee cases submitted by partner
Financial Institutions for aBi Finance’s approval.
·        
Maintain records, like files pertaining to the
Guarantees and Loans including legal and collateral documentation.
·        
Mentor and train partners for improved product
refinement/development, portfolio quality and reporting.
·        
Train and coach colleagues in credit risk analysis,
deal structure, policy and procedural adherence.
·        
Support process of assembling relevant reports to
Management and Board.
Key Performance Indicators:
·        
Attainment of target Loan portfolio size.
·        
Attainment of target number of beneficiaries.
·        
Attainment of quality portfolio
·        
Attainment of set turnaround times for both internal
and external customers
·        
Efficiency at delivery of integrated service for
more effectiveness
·        
Timeliness in the preparation of relevant reports.
·        
Timeliness in the detection and escalation of
exceptional cases.
·        
Timelines in resolving raised Audit concerns.
Qualifications, Skills and
Experience: 
·        
The ideal candidate for the Credit Officer job
opportunity should hold a Bachelor’s degree in Agribusiness, Finance,
Economics, Statistics and any other relevant professional course from a
recognized Institution.
·        
Additional training in in Credit Analysis and risk
management with emphasis on Agricultural financing products.
·        
At least three years’ experience in Agricultural
Credit Risk Management.
·        
Working knowledge and understanding of all aBi
Finance’s products and facilities and what constitutes risks in these products.
·        
Working knowledge of statutory credit requirements
and their applicability.
·        
Computer literacy i.e. Familiarity in use of
Databases and Microsoft Office particularly Excel.
·        
Good report writing skills and experience.
·        
Critical– Compliance to manuals legal requirements
adherence.
·        
Excellent analytical skills
·        
Broad knowledge and understanding of Financial
Analysis to recommend appropriately.
·        
Excellent interpersonal and teamwork skills.
