About Us:
The Parliamentary
Commission of Uganda serves the following functions;
  • To appoint,
    promote and exercise disciplinary control over persons holding public
    office in Parliament;
  • To review the
    terms and conditions of service, standing orders, training and
    qualifications  of persons holding office in Parliament;
  • To provide a
    Parliamentary reporting service;
  • To provide such
    other staff and facilities as are required to ensure efficient functioning
    of the Parliament;
  • To cause to be
    prepared in each financial year, estimates of revenue and expenditure for
    the next financial year; and
  • To make
    recommendations to Parliament, or with the approval of Parliament,
    determine the allowances payable and privileges available to the Speaker
    and Members of Parliament.
Job Summary: The Systems Administrator
will support day-to-day operations and administration of information and Technology
Systems of the Institution.
Key Duties &
Responsibilities:
  • Responsible for the installation of ICT
    hardware and software
  • Administer and maintain network infrastructure
  • Maintain controls in LAN and WAN infrastructure
  • Install and regularly update antivirus software
  • Participate in the management of the Data
    Centre
  • Train and support users of Information
    Technology Systems and hardware
  • Carry out regular backups and recovery
    procedures
  • Perform any other duties as delegated by
    superiors
Qualifications, Skills &
Experience:
  • The applicant should possess an Honours
    Bachelor’s Degree in Computer Science, Information and Communication
    Technology, Information Systems, Computer Engineering or Software
    Engineering from a recognised Institution 
  • Knowledge of Shell scripting languages such as
    Power Shell, Bash, PERL, CSCRIPT and Python
  • Knowledge in use of LINUX, Windows Operating
    Systems and application software.
  • Ability to troubleshoot and repair hardware, software,
    and network problems
  • Good working knowledge of Network planning, administration
    and management
  • Knowledge of Active Directory/LDAP
  • Good analytical, communication and
    interpersonal skills
