the areas of Human Rights, Health Promotions and Institutional Capacity
Strengthening.
About USAID SOCY Project:
ACODEV will be implementing Sustainable Outcomes for Children and Youth
in Central and Western Uganda over the next five years. The Project will
improve the health, nutrition, education and psychosocial wellbeing of vulnerable
populations, as well as reduce abuse, exploitation and neglect to a minimum of
625,000 children and 101,500 households in 17 districts in central and western
Uganda.  The program will improve
outcomes for vulnerable children and youth by strengthening the systems that
surround them; caregivers will have greater economic opportunities, which will
increase their resilience and make them less susceptible to shocks; local
government structures and CSOs will be strengthened to provide services
targeting the diverse needs of vulnerable children, and health and social
service agencies will strengthen their coordination and referral systems to
provide integrated care along the continuum of response.The Project is being
implemented by a consortium of partner consisting of CRS being the lead,
Futures Group, ACODEV, Palladium, ANPPCAN and TPO.
SILC and Youth group formation are the key vehicles used to support the
beneficiary groups. It is anticipated that for every household enrolled will
have a minimum of one youth, making, approximately 100,000 Youth. 80% of these
are expected to participate in SOCY activities. It is against this background
that ACODEV is looking for aYouth Specialist, to carryout vertical
consolidation of Youth activities.
Key Duties and Responsibilities:  
  • Overseer the implementation of youth and
    PPP activities within the region in accordance with the CSO work plan and
    ensure identification, prioritization and sequencing of activities
    required for successful delivery
  • Provide technical oversight and guidance
    to CSO youth Program Officers/ Coordinators within the region to ensure
    quality and high impact Youth Household Economic Strengthening (HES)
    activities
  • The jobholder will provide technical
    leadership in identifying and engaging Public Private Partners within the
    region to deliver on program needs
  • Support CSO field teams to ensure that
    delivery of technical training packages is of high quality, is appropriate
    to the local context and is effectively reaching the intended
    beneficiaries
  • Actively participate in the consolidation
    of Implementing Partner(IP) reports on youth and PPP activities
  • Undergo ToTs to grow knowledge &
    skills on the program curriculums as required
  • Actively participate in regional and CSO
    program meetings to track progress of implementation
  • Keenly monitor youth and PPP activities
    within the region
Qualifications, Skills and
Experience:
  • The ideal candidate for the ACODEV USAID
    SOCY Project Youth & Public-Private Partnership (PPP) Specialist job
    placement should preferably hold a Bachelor’s Degree in Development
    Studies, Education, Social Sciences or related qualifications
  • A minimum of five years’ experience and
    knowledge in working with vulnerable children and/or youth.
  • Extensive knowledge of community
    engagement, apprenticeship management, value chain linkages, Income
    generating activities and formation of PPPs
  • Ability to support agro- enterprise
    development using the market-led approaches and local government supported
    structures
  • Knowledge of youth legislation,
    regulations, policies and procedures for involving youth in community
    activities
  • Ability to identify and engage potential
    partners to support youth activities
  • Ability to coordinate and work with a
    technical team
  • Proven ability and experience working
    independently will be an added advantage
