About New Vision:
The Vision Group incorporated as the New Vision Printing &
Publishing Company Limited (NVPPCL), started business in March 1986. It is a
multimedia business housing newspaper, magazines, internet publishing,
television, radio broadcasting, commercial printing, advertising and
distribution services. NVPPCL is listed on the Uganda Stock Exchange, with an
expected turnover of over UGX 60 billion (FY 2010/2011).
Job Summary: The Editor of the New Vision will be responsible
for managing sound and video in the post – production process with the aim of
ensuring a quality programme for transmission.
Key Duties and Responsibilities:
  • Read and interpret the shooting and
    editing of script and transform it into a video edit.
  • Go through footage after shooting so as to
    remove unwanted footage.
  • Select the best combination of
    photography, performance, consistency and timing for dramatic and
    entertainment value and story continuity.
  • Oversee and trim segments of footage to
    the lengths needed for the film and assemble them into the best sequence to
    tell the story.
  • Collaborate with producers to tell a
    compelling story.
  • Manipulate the pictures to create a
    balance and correct the colour of the edited programme.
  • Suggest and add graphics and effects to
    improve the video edit and sound effects.
  • Be able to alter style, pace or mood of
    video.
  • Perform any other duties and
    responsibilities as assigned by the Senior Graphics Editor.
Qualifications, Skills & Experience:
  • The applicant must
    hold a good diploma in Fine Art.
  • Prior Graphics Design
    and Multi-media experience is an added advantage
  • At least two years’
    experience in Television production or a related field.
  • Familiarity and
    Understanding of the Post-production process.
  • High exposure and
    experience in non-linear editing software with a bias of Adobe edit suite.
  • Knowledge of
    Production and editing formats;
  • Basic techniques of
    Television production
  • Possess the ability to
    translate written material into television programme
  • Ability to communicate
    effectively both orally and in writing.
  • Shift priorities as departmental
    workload demands require;
  • Possess ability to
    work independently and meet frequent deadlines;
