integration, advisory services, transaction processing and payment infrastructure
to government, banks and corporate organizations.
Interswitch, through its Super Switch
provides online, real-time transaction switching that enable businesses and
individuals have access to their funds across the 20 banks in Nigeria and
across a variety of payment channels such as Automated Teller Machines (ATMS),
Point of Sale (PoS) terminals, Mobile Phones, Kiosks, Web and Bank Branches.
Job Summary: The Head, Infrastructure
will be responsible for the management and oversight of infrastructure, network
and information systems operations to guarantee the efficient and continuous
availability of production and productivity applications and environments with
the aim to deliver 99.999% uptime.
To consistently improve
infrastructure, develop and maintain policies and procedures, ensure projects
are completed within budget guidelines and maintain best practices for the
organization’s infrastructure.
Key Duties and Responsibilities: 
1. Regular/Daily Duties:
  • Offer
    99.999% availability and performance of the Interswitch East Africa
    switching infrastructure.
  • Manage
    the delivery of network connections to various entities connected to
    Interswitch and continuous monitoring of the entire network.
  • Maintain
    centralized documentation of all network system changes and inventory of
    all such systems.
  • Oversee
    the installation, configuration, support and administration of database
    driven business application software on windows and UNIX environments.
  • Monitor
    applications operating systems utilisation to ensure optimal utilisation
    and stability.
  • Supervise
    the planning and implementation of backup and disaster recovery
    procedures.
  • Oversee
    the performance of periodic backups and the integrity of such backups,
    review of transaction data backup, restoring and archiving of old data.
  • Administer
    and support infrastructure Storage Area Networks (SANs)
  • Manage
    the maintenance of the data center infrastructure including but not
    limited to power, environmental ambience and cabling.
  • Ensure
    optimal delivery of Interswitch products and services over the network and
    the rectification of system failures.
  • Oversee
    the maintenance of information systems infrastructure.
  • Oversee
    the Change Management procedures for all information systems
    infrastructure.
  • Keep
    inventory of information systems hardware and monitor usage.
  • Ensure
    the smooth running and availability of all information systems, including
    productivity tools, anti-virus software, file server services, print
    services and email provision.
  • Evaluate
    user needs and system functionality, ensure that information systems meet
    the needs of users and are fit for use.
  • Ensure
    licenses, registrations, renewals, etc. related to information systems and
    operations and/or services are up to date.
  • Oversee
    the administration and management of the information systems support
    helpdesk.
  • Handle
    Project management for domestic and international projects.  Ensure that customer requirements are
    fulfilled on time.
  • Ensure
    unit’s compliance with company standards, processes and policies.
  • Co-ordinate
    all activities of all the operational components of the department.
2. Periodic and Special Duties:
  • Design
    and Implement short-term and long-term strategic plans to ensure
    infrastructure capacity meets existing and future capacity needs.
  • Plan
    projection of transaction volume and network growth and scalability.
  • Co-ordinate
    the assessment of the DR infrastructure with the aim to ensure efficiency
    and continuous availability.
  • Define
    hardware and software standards in conjunction with stakeholders and
    clients.
  • Develop
    procedures to support and maintain IT systems availability.
  • Review
    application versions, manage service transitions to new or enhanced
    (patches) versions.
  • Relate
    with all suppliers to evaluate application versions and performance.
  • Oversee
    the Implementation of new technology projects and switch infrastructure
    enhancements.
  • Drive
    continuous service audit with the aim to optimize performance.
  • Perform
    security tests and audits with reports.
  • Prepare
    Quarterly Balance Scorecards with individual team members.
  • Set, manage,
    and communicate performance standards & KPI’s for the team.
  • Review
    project plans, project & certification reports, project sign-off
    documents, post implementation reports with team members.

    and external customer satisfaction levels
  • Response
    and resolution of support requests
  • Timely
    completion and sign-off of projects
  • Timely
    closure of incidents and fast resolution of issues.
  • Elimination
    of errors and/or rework during project execution                                                               
Qualifications, Skills and Experience: 
  • The
    applicant should be abreast with User Requirements Analysis
  • Network
    and Capacity Planning skills
  • Good
    working Knowledge of Wireless Systems
  • Knowledge
    of Cisco Unified Communications
  • Detailed
    Knowledge and understanding of Data Communications
  • Microsoft
