About UCL:
Uganda Clays Limited is Uganda’s leading manufacturer of quality baked
clay construction products since 1950 and is listed on the Uganda Securities
Exchange. Uganda Clays Ltd is Uganda’s leading manufacturer of quality baked
clay building products. Using Italian-made heavy clay processing machinery, the
Company manufactures well over 40 items of building materials from clay
excavated using surface mining techniques. The materials are baked to a
characteristic Kajjansi brick-red colour in two continuous Hoffman kilns using
coffee husks.
Job Summary: The Chief
Executive Officer will provide visionary leadership to strategically position
the Company as a key player in the production and marketing of quality and
affordable clay building materials and create value through effective
utilization of the Company resources.
Key Duties & Responsibilities:
  • Develop, review and refine the Company’s
    business strategy, and execute that strategy to obtain a leading position
    in the market place.
  • Prepare and present the Company plans and
    budgets to the Board for approval and ensure effective implementation.
  • Work harmoniously with the management team
    to satisfy customer needs, develop and nurture new and existing customers,
    channel partners and other market opportunities.
  • Direct, plan and implement policies,
    maximize returns on investments, and to increase productivity and achieve
    the Company objectives.
  • Coordinate activities of all departments
    including production, marketing and sales, finance and human resources in
    line with the business strategy and plans.
  • Perform any other duties as assigned by
    the Board Chairman.
Qualifications, Skills and Experience:
  • The CEO must hold a bachelor’s degree
    preferably in commerce, business management, law, engineering, economics
    or any other relevant area.
  • A Master’s degree in a related field and a
    membership in a relevant professional body will be an added advantage;
  • A minimum of fifteen years of experience
    at management level.
  • All candidates must have experience in
    manufacturing / construction industry and at the top management level.
  • Excellent leadership, management and
    organizational skills.
  • All candidates with a successful track
    record of marketing, restructuring and turning around of business, will be
    preferred,
