Water and Sewerage Corporation (NWSC) a leading organisation in the Water
sector in Uganda with a Vision “To be a leading Water Utility in the World.”
NWSC is a utility parastatal 100% owned by The Government of Uganda. It was
established in 1972 under decree No: 34. The mandate of the Corporation as
defined in the National Water & Sewerage Corporation Statute of 1995,
Section 5 (1), is to operate and provide water and sewerage services in areas
entrusted to it, on a sound, commercial and viable basis. The NWSC operations
were initially in three towns of Kampala, Jinja, and Entebbe.

Job Summary: The job holder will
primarily ensure that the Human Resources employed meet the short, medium and
long term objectives and that every employee’s potential and energies are
directed to improve the overall performance of the company.

Key Duties and Responsibilities:
- Develop, review, communicate and implement
acceptable human resources strategies, policies, procedures, practical
plans and budgets, based on the best practices. - Coordinate recruitment and selection activities
and ensuring that new employees are properly oriented as well as carrying
out orientation of other staff as well. - Undertake effective implementation of the terms
and conditions of service, welfare policies and procedures, and
disciplinary policies and procedures. - Provide advice and guidance to all employees on
the interpretation of the terms and conditions of service and on any other
human resource policies. - Liaise with heads of departments and line
Managers in identifying training needs and formulates annual company-wide
training requirements. - Develop and maintain an accurate Human Resource
Information Database. - Updating and maintaining job descriptions for
all positions. - Maintain cordial industrial relations in the
company as a way of enhancing high productivity. - Provide technical support to Line Managers in
introducing and maintaining performance management systems in the company
and ensures that the company wholly embraces performance-management
principles and practices. - Develop and coordinate performance appraisal of
employees and ensuring it is fairly carried out and identifying their
training and development needs. - Perform other tasks as assigned.
Qualifications, Skills and
Experience:
Experience:
- The applicant should hold a Bachelor’s Degree
in Social Sciences, Business Administration, Commerce or Public
Administration, Human Resource Management. Organization Psychology,
obtained from an internationally recognized University. - A Master’s Degree in a relevant field.
- A minimum of four (4) years’ post
qualification experience. - High degree of integrity.
- Ability to work under minimum supervision.
- Knowledge of labour laws of Uganda.
- Proficiency in Human Resources Management
Principles and Procedures. - Ready to work long hours.
- Must be a mature and seasoned professional
manager who is able to interact and coordinate activities well with staff
at all levels of the company.
Age: below 40 years
