Job
Summary: The  Senior Technician I (RADIO & TX) will carry
out preventive & reactive maintenance and operation of all network wire
line/wireless infrastructure systems that include; Fiber, satellite, GSM &
3G infrastructures, WIMAX, CDMA and Microwave Radio network systems.

 

Key
Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Performs
    duties of the assistant to the senior regional in the region.
  • Conduct
    preventive & reactive maintenance of the MTN Uganda radio &
    transmission network infrastructure.
  • Participate
    in Site upgrades, Commissioning & site acceptance processes.
  • Participate
    in outsourced maintenance contractor supervision works through spot checks
    and reporting.
  • Maintain
    satellite, fiber, terrestrial network, GSM, CDMA and microwave
  • Perform
    maintenance tasks on the fixed line wireless terminals in the region.
  • Should
    be ready to work hand in hand with the senior technician II Radio Tx to
    implement prepared regional maintenance work plans.
  • Assist
    the senior region technician carry out spares Audit in order to keep the
    required stock in region.
  • Prepare
    the faulty spare units; bring them to Kampala for shipping to the supplier
    for repair.
  • Takes
    on the responsibilities of all operations in the region when the senior
    regional technician is away.

 

Qualification
Skills and Experience:

  • The
    applicant should hold a Higher Diploma in Electrical or Telecommunication
    Engineering.
  • At
    least 5 year’s work experience in Telecommunication Radio and transmission
    environment.
  • A
    valid driving license with at least two years driving experience with a
    manual car.
  • Quick
    learning ability, research for new technologies and cope with the dynamic
    telecom industry
  • Excellent
    communication & interpersonal skills,
  • Excellent
    report writing and presentation skills
  • Good
    analytical & problem solving skills,
  • Highly
    organized
  • Ability
    to work with minimum supervision.
  • He/she
    must be very enthusiastic, self-motivated
  • Highly
    flexible & able to work long hours with readiness to meet scheduled
    and unscheduled work call outs.
