5 USAID Project Trainers – Abt Associates

Abt  Associates Inc. is a mission-driven global leader in research and
program implementation in the fields of health, social and environmental policy
and international development.   Abt
Associates through USAID funded Strengthening Health Outcomes through the
Private Sector (SHOPS) project in partnership with the Clinton Health
Initiatives (CHAI) seek to significantly increase the number of children under
five with diarrhoea receiving Oral Rehydration Therapy o Salts (ORT /ORS) and
Zinc for the treatment through private sector channels so as to reduce
diarrhoea-related morbidity and mortality.

Job Summary: The Trainers will implement a country wide district level training
program for drug shop vendors / owners to equip them with the correct WHO /MOH
recommended diarrhoea treatment protocols for children.

Key Duties & Responsibilities:
  • Conduct
    nationwide district level training program for drug shop vendors / owners.
  • Present
    information using a variety of adult instructional techniques such as role
    plays, simulations, lectures, group discussions.
  • Liaise
    with training coordinator and DADIs at districts to ensure good trainee
    mobilisation.
  • Participate
    in joint monthly work plan development with the training coordinator.
  • Take
    responsibility for the teaching quality delivered to ensure trainees are
    adequately equipped with skills in diarrhoea management.
  • Prepare
    all administrative, logistical and financial matters prior to the
    trainings.
  • Do
    reporting to the Training Coordinator every week on finances and all
    trainings conducted.
  • Perform
    any other duties as instructed by the Coordinator.

Qualifications,
Skills & Experience:
  • The
    candidate must have a  bachelors  degree  or its equivalent
     in a  medical  field  from a  recognized
     institution.
  • Training
    in Trainer of trainers course in Maternal Child Health, preferably in
    Integrated Management of child-hood illnesses (IMCI) o Integrated
    Community Case Management (ICCM) with a clinical understanding of
    diarrhoea management.
  • Experience
    in group trainings among private sector health workers.
  • Ability
    to work under pressure and meet deadlines..
  • Accuracy
     and attention to  detail
  • Excellent
    verbal and written communication skills and communicate effectively
    with a wide range of people.
  • Experience
    working with district health teams.
  • Computer
    literacy especially Microsoft Powerpoint.
